Starting a 7 rem mag build and starting to source components. What I'm looking for is opinions on which brass to go with? I've had good luck with Winchester for a lot of chamberings but have recently had an experience with the hard split necks right of the bag...they were 22-250.
Anyway what brass is best and why?

cdn, like yourself I have been a devoted WW brass user when I had a choice but am not limited to them,
I will use whatever I can get in good quantity and from the same lot, I have also used RP and Fed brass with good results.
I would suggest you get yourself enough brass (at least 200) so that you don't have to make any switches any day soon, I would also
recommend you pay particular attention to the brass dimensions and go with what is closest to the specifications otherwise
you will be dealing with a lot of streching problems to deal with and shorter brass life. The case dimensions would be my
determining factor in making my choice. Your s[lit neck problems are something I had issues with when I used Hornady brass.
Cheers

If you are only shooting it during hunting season and want durable, reliable, premium brass I would suggest Norma or Lapua. That is if you have money to burn. For 99% of people including me; I just use virgin winchester brass as it is reasonably priced, delivers fine accuracy, and has enough longevity for me.

If you want to obtain the most performance and longevity out of your brass, do not load to the "max" and after your first firing, just neck size, trimming and anneal it.

Cabela's has Nosler but it's pricey. I just started load development for an old 700 in 7mm Rem Mag and at $54.99 for WW, I'm happy. This time, I had to discard few cases - there was a shaving on the main case body, including the raised burr - very bizarre. I also noticed some case lengths less than 2.490" but they've all come up to minimum spec now and I have started trimming between firings to assure length consistency.

I'm on the 4th firing and the shoulders will now need to be bumped back. ...at 7/8 MOA at 200 yds, I have some work to do, but don't think it has anything to do with WW brass. Maybe too much Tim's coffeeschleck.

R-P brass has been good for me for a long time in several chamberings. I'd get a few bags and go from there.

I have found that Rem and Win brass to be very similar in 7mm RM as well as other calibers. Therefore they are more or less interchangeable and have had no issues with primer pockets with either.

Not sure how I've made it so many years without buying R-P brass...I better try some out.

Funny how the component shortage shapes our decisions. I'm putting this rifle together simply because I haven't found wsm brass in two years. That and I figure, 7 rem mag must be popular for a reason.

I have tried a few brands and for the money you can't go wrong with Winchester brass. I never have had any problems and the load quite a few times. I have tried a few of the more expensive brands and have found they really don't make a world of difference.

I have had great luck with all makes ! Everything is man made so there is bound to be issues with everyone's brass once in awhile !

I've been mostly using neck sized Winchester brass in my 7RM and am getting good brass life out of it. But I also use Hornady and Remington brass for a few select loads and they have been good as well but they are not wearing as well as my Win brass. Rem brass seems second best to me. I have not been able to acquire any Win brass lately as I need more but Hornady has been readily available so I may have to go with it for now.
