Looking at the jard currently- I like that it isnt enclosed and this is a hunting rifle it will get snowed on/wet/cold for sure. A good option?

What characteristics are you looking for and have you tried to adjust / polish / tune your current trigger? No knowledge of any issues with Rem triggers not functioning in snow/wet/cold. Suspect for the money work on the Rem trigger will do more for you than the Jard.

The Jard trigger for Rem 700's requires the factory trigger housing. The Mark X specifically. Remove factory trigger internals and replace with Jard parts. I would opt for a Jewell myself.

If you pierce a primer on a 700 you are quite likely to break the internals of a Jewell and be out of action. Lots of triggers work fine, Rifle Basix etc.

I'm running a timney on my 700 hunting precision rig and have it at about 3.5lbs pull. Shot it in rain snow wind brush gravel sand an dirt and not one glitch with it yet. Safety and bolt release work well an the pull is heavy enough that it won't go off with the brush of a tree limb etc. also tuneable for lighter and heavier pull. I think the one better would be the jewell

I either run factory Rem triggers or Jewel. I will say the Jewel i have in my LR rig is by for the nicest, Best built trigger ive ever had.

Ive personally had a couple of Timney's and i do not like the 700 version. I was not able to tune it below 2lbs, the seer wold not allow me to tune the trigger down. The way the bolt release is attached to the side of the trigger it can slide out of its groove and get stuck up " in the release position ". The screw that held the bolt release to the side of the trigger had to be set loose so it would move freely but not to tight or, again it wouldnt be loose enough to drop back down once pressed in the upward position. If it was too loose it would slide out of its grove. I really did not like the way the bolt release was designed... Stupid half ass design. I will never buy another Timney because of that.

For how much better the Jewel is , the extra $100 bucks is nothing.

My experiences with Timneys and Jewels are the same as Pilot's, if you don't want to go lower than 2lbs the Timneys will work but the jewel is a better trigger in my opinion.

Jewell Is awesome but can take on more dirt and dust and not function. I used mine to hunt and tac matches and everything. Never had it not fire, but would get gritty so I cleaned it. Have a timney on my "Harder" use rifle and works great. Had it at 1.5 pounds but most matches have a restriction or if I moving I want it a little heavier. I have it at 2 and its breaks nice and clean. Both are great, and if you maintain the jewell your fine. By maintain I mean clean it everyonce in a while. I was pretty hard on it but still had it set at 2-2.3 lbs.
