I use a conventional Powder Dump powder dispenser and notice that with powders like 4895 the charges vary slightly. This no doubt is due to the tubular shape of the powder grains.
I think Ball Powder would help cure this and was wondering which ones you guys have had good results with for 150/165 grain bullets on Whitetail Deer with the 308 Win?
What about for a 270 Win/130's & 300 Weatherby 180's ?

Stick with the powder that is best adapted to your rifles and don't worry about very minor weight discrepancies with the slow burning powders you should be using.
H4831 is great in both the rifles and bullet weights you mention. Just give a solid pull on the handle and keep the same pull on every load. Truck loads of H4831 powder has likely been metered through the type measure you describe.

With hunting ammo you won't see much difference with +/- .5 gr. If you are really anal about it (like us long range target shooters) weigh every charge and trickle it up to weight.

For 308 and 270, you can make good ammo with WW760 H414 (same powder) For the 300 you want something slower. I have used WW785, but I don't think it is made anymore.

Ball powder meters very well compared to extruded powders, but unless you are making match ammo, the minor variations of extruded through a powder thrower won't matter a bit.
