Just looking for some input on which CZ457 I should be considering for my 10 year old daughter. She's recently become interested in shooting with me and I'm going to encourage this as best I can. I have taken her out a few times with my bergara b14r. Its a great rifle...for me, but the bolt manipulation and stock setup isn't ideal for her. After lots of research, it seems a CZ457 of some variety would serve her well. I'm just unsure which model to get. I'd like to eventually get it into a bravo or XRS, but it would be nice to set it up and use it out of the box. I plan to add an arca rail to the foreend for a bipod and a canted scope rail of some kind. I've looked at the AT-one model but I'm not sure about the boyds stock. I've also looked at a regular varmint model. Obviously the adjustability of the at one is appealing, I just don't want to waste money on a potentially junk stock that I'll upgrade anyways. Let me know your thoughts so I can order this and get her set up. Thanks in advance.

My daughter started shooting when she was 12 (few years ago). I set her up with CZ 455 Varmint with 20" Bull barrel, AT-One stock, Sightron 6-24x50, trigger kit (I think it's DIP or something like that, just spring change basically), shooting SK Rifle Match. The rifle was accurate enough so she didn't get frustrated. She loved it, best she shot at 50m was .264" (5 shot group). The AT-One stock is not too bad, just not a ton of adjustment (cheek piece only goes up maybe 1 ", unless they improved it on newer ones).

Either a cz452/cz455 or cz457 scout. I bought a chipmonk for my youngest son, but he out grew it after a few years, where as with a cz scout you can get a full size stock for it, also with the cz455 or cz457 you can also get 22wmr or 17hmr mini kits to allow shooting these rimfire cartridges. I still have a cz457 scout which I have kept the original size, since I find it very handy for despatching pests in confined quaters with 22 shot shells.

Go for a used 455 scout. This is the previous model of 457 and can be had for a lot less $$ than 457. If she outgrows it, you can build a bigger gun using the action, drop in a heavy barrel, buy cheap stock and you can have a bigger 22 for, say, benchwork. 455 and 457 barrels have the same mounting mechanism and are interchangeable. Infind the 457 bolt inferior to 455. It is two piece like the savage and i found them not as smooth as 455. I dont see the 457 a big improvement over the 455 models. Only, the 60 degree bolt lift is nice.
