I like the concept and functionality of a detachable 12 gauge gun.

Of the choices available, and with all of the usual quality, functioning, ergonomics etc as with any firearm review being considered.....
Which detachable mag shotgun do you consider "the best", or the "worst" with range-use / defence as the engineered purpose over sporting use?

They don't make them anymore but the 870 DM is my favorite. As it's really just a 870 that takes mags parts are mostly compatible and with a proven 870 track record. I don't know if Remington will produce them or their magazines again as DM mag shotguns don't seem to have the same appeal in the USA as Canada.

I’d go with an 870dm but as Gatehouse says they aren’t made currently, I have a mag fed grizzly and it took some tweaking and tuning of the mags to get it 100% reliable with 2.75” shells. Due to mag length it will never be 100% with 3” shells, there’s not enough room for the longer shells to feed properly.

There’s less and less mag fed 12g options, they all seem to be Turkish and I won’t go there. After using my mag fed grizzly for some grouse hunting I find that a reg tube fed shotgun is better for my liking. Less weight, no box mag catching on things or hitting me if slung, you have to limit the mag to 2 for hunting with shot in bc and you can’t port load with a mag inserted as the follower is in the way. So 2+1 is a pain to do, not impossible though.
