For fans of turn-of-the-century iron:

Which would you recommend as a better shooter, the Webley .455, Colt New Service in .455 Eley(Ely?) or .45, or a Smith & Wesson in .455? I've handled a deactivated Webley and have a fondness for English iron(no Lucas refrigeration unit jokes, please) but want to check all options.

I'd favour Smith & Wesson revolvers and I am not a fan of top break revolvers. What will determine the accuracy of a specific gun is the uniformity of the chamber throats. Every gun maker you mention has produced good and poor examples. The gun you get will shoot the best with bullets that match the diameter of the cylinder throats rather than the bore diameter.

I have both the Webley and the S&W 455. :D I really enjoy shooting the Webley but something about the Smith doesn't agree with my hands. Maybe the grip is too small.

Of course at THAT  price for ammunition, I don't shoot either one very often.
