I'm thinking of buying a used EOtech red dot for my shotgun. From what I read here, they are bombproof. New is a bit out of my price range, but looks like a lot of good deals pop up on EE.

However, they have a lot of different model numbers it seems, and I have no idea what the difference is from one to the next (though I figured out what the NV designation is :) ).

Can you guys suggest which models would be good for a tactical shotgun for target shooting?

Thanks

I have the XPS2 on my shotgun and it works great. It's size overall is smaller then some of the other models, and the batteries are installed 90 degrees to the barrel. I heard that some of the models with the batteries parallel to the barrel can sometimes get jarred lose during recoil. Not sure how much truth to it, but it was one of the reasons I went with the XPS2.

I have a 512 on my jr carbine and is a pretty sweet setup. They are less money compared to the others
