Which glass should I buy?

Hey,

I'm dropping my Tikka T3X (.308) in a KRG Bravo, and I'm looking for some new glass. I'll mostly be using it at the range, out to 1000m, but I also plan to do a bit of hunting with it in the future. I'm in Canada, and I've narrowed it down to a few options

1. Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 MRAD (~$1,500 CAD) - Vortex appeals just because it's main stream, constantly recommended, fairly high quality, and their warranty is absolutely the best of the best, no questions asked.

2. Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30x56 MRAD (~$1,650 CAD) - Seems to be constantly compared to the Vortex, great reviews, mostly seems that people prefer it slightly to the Vortex. Bigger objective lens, and I've heard great things about ELD glass.

3. Tract Toric UHD 4-20x50 MRAD (~$1,400 CAD) (I can get it with Rings, Tenebraex covers, throw lever, and level for a total of $1,680 CAD). The reviews on this optic seem amazing. The magnification is slightly less, but it seems flawless. The Schott glass (at least at closer ranges has been compared to Schmidts/NF) The only issue is I have to get it exported out of the states. The paperwork seems pretty straightforward, it just might take a few months, and it might lengthen any RMA process, however, their customer service is unparalleled.

If shipping was easier, I'd probably pull the trigger on the Tract, but the shipping is the only thing holding me back, and making me consider one of the other two? So I'm just looking for some extra advice between the above options.

Thanks!

I have the vortex pst you are considering and it has proven to be a reliable optic, I also have a lower power Razor and can say the glass quality between the 2 doesn't compare. I only mention that because all the reviews of the Ares compare the glass to the Razor line and at the moment I am debating between the Ares and the next model up the Cronus. While I don't have an Athlon scope yet I did buy a pair of Their Midas binoculars because the glass quality was better to my eyes then others costing twice the price from "bigger" brands. Local shop here in Saskatoon caries Athlon and I've been able to handle and compare them to optics I own and the Ares is in my opinion a leader in its price range.

Athlon would be my pick. I have the midas TAC and have taken it beyond 1000 regularly. Tracks like a champ, great reticle and great glass. I will be getting an Ares etr or cronus for my next build.

Does sightron have any decent reticles even? Not trying to be a #### just asking. I am always interested in their scopes for the glass but their reticles seem to be lacking

They don't have a huge selection but what they have works, depends how complex you want, they have a few that may work for you.I personally like the MOA reticle but they also have made this one more intricate with the MOA-H , it is at least worth a look-see , they have MIL_HASH also and mil-dot.The glass is good also.

Definitely get the Athlon ares ETR, locking windage turret, and their zero stop is much better than the viper. The ares BTR compares more to the vortex viper pst gen 2, Had both to compare side by side at one point. Glass on the ETR is really good, as good or better than my low made scopes.
