I have a Sabatti 9.3x62mm with no sights and am considering going non-conventional to a Red Dot Sight, as opposed to a low to mid, fixed or variable scope.

I believe low profile would be an asset, but I would entertain tip off magnification as an option.

Anyone with experience with this type of rig?

I use Burris Fastfire II on a couple rifles, will put one on another soon. they work well, cost less than some of the European makes. I have considered the Docter Optic red dot, which is a standard sight used for driven game in Germany. The Burris will fit in European mounts meant for the Docter sight.

I have used an Aimpoint Micro H1 for 5 years on both my wild turkey shotgun and my deer rifle. It has functioned flawlessly in weather conditions of all types and I recommend it highly. It's tiny, but super tough.

I have a bushnell on my shotgun. It is small and reliable. My in laws use the same one on their deer rifles. So far they have been reliable and they are fairly inxpensive too.

A quite wide array of options.

I have an EO Tech, but feel that it is to bulky for the purpose.

I will look at Aimpoint and Burris as I wish to mount on the receiver ring Weaver base. I would like to have a sight with the least snagging form, a tall order from what I have seen.

I just finished installing a Vortex Venom on a Marlin 336. Mounts nice and low with the burris mount, looking forward to trying it at the range this week.

I have used a bushnell TRS 25 for a few years now on a Remington 7600 carbine in 30-06 for deer. Gets you on target fast, the reason I went with the RD is our deer are always on the move cause we run hounds. We have a bunch of RD sights in camp that vary from a eotech (your right it’s bulky) , 2 trs 25, a vortex venom, and a vortex crossfire ( same as a trs 25) they seem to do the trick at a fraction of Aimpoint price, that being said if I ever upgrade my trs 25 it will be a Aimpoint microH1 or H2. Hope this helps

I’ve had an Aimpoint 9000L for years, I use it in QD mounts on my deer rifle so that I can switch between it and a scope depending on where I’m hunting. I love the aimpoint, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another (if I do it will be an H1 or H2).

I've been using a Bushnell Holo Sight (EO Tech 552) on my trap gun for 10+ yrs now & not a single hiccup in thousands of rounds. Only problem with sights like these is having a situation where the sun is behind ye coming into the sight. Yer dot disappears in an amber haze making a shot next to impossible. I've tried the Burris Fastfire and found the dot was too fuzzy on the edges. Nice size though. The makers should have more green dot versions on these fer my eyes at least.
