I have been using RCBS dies for all my re-loading so far and was just wondering if I should stay with RCBS.I was thinking of getting the LEE collet neck sizing die's for my 22-250. I was also thinking maybe the RCBS X full length dies? Which one do you guys figure are the best?
Thanks

The Lee Collet die should give you the lowest runout if you have a factory barreled rifle. We ran an experiment with cases fired out of my friend's Savage and nothing beat the el-cheapo Lee die. With an oversized chamber, its sometimes necessary to size in two steps with progressively smaller bushings in order to lower the runout. That's what we needed to do in order to get the runout down with any of the bushing dies (Redding, Forster and Wilson).

This is what they say is special about the neck sizing collet - "Collet squeezes case neck against a mandrel centred in the case by the decapping pin. Die does not rub against case so no lube is needed. Bullet seating die has Dead Length Bullet Seater which removes press play and assures exact seating depth." Can anyone tell me if this is true or if they have had problems not using lube on the cases.

You do not need lube if your using the neck sizing die. It basically just squeezes the neck without sizing the case body

I have a neck sizing die for my 270 by rcbs do i still have to lube the case on it or is it safe to do it with out lube or is it just with the lee dies?

My favourite dies are made by Lee. Good quality at a great price. I have used the collet die a bit too, but you can only use that ammo in the gun that originally fired it. I have used RCBS dies too, and two of my best buddies swear by them, but I will stick with my Lees!

I also buy Lee dies mostly when I buy a new ( for me) rifle in a different caliber other then 308 because I usally end up selling it later. Sometimes I can sell the dies with the rifle sometime not but seeing that they don't cost much I keep them until someone is looking that caliber. The last one was a 7 x 57mm, sold the rifle but still have the dies...but eventually someone will want them
