Hey guys. Looking to get a hunting jacket for bow hunting deer n turkey this year. Looking between the Under Armour ridge reaper late season jacket or the browning hells canyon speed hellfire jacket. Which is better for southern ontario?

Between the two I'd take the Under Armour. The UA is quite well constructed, say what you want about the branding/marketing but they put clothing together properly and it does last. The Browning is ok but Browning is not a clothing company, it's a gun company with a branding arm.

Depends on your tolerance to cold when stationary in a treestand for several hours to all day hunts and the months you plan to hunt. In Oct after Thanksgiving weekend when turkey starts the UA may surfice or somethime a camo shirt and pants is more than enough but come Nov and Dec for deer and depending on the WMU neither may be warm enough and you'll be more distracted by the chill, cold and wind you're exposed to. I'd throw in a parka in the mix and bundle up when feeling the chill and peel it off when warmed up.

Unfortunately one hunting garment does not satisfy all environmental needs.

Don't be stuck on the UA stuff. Check out Cabela's hunting brand as well.

If you're sitting in a groundblind... you don't need camo. Black garment is all you need

I would focus on things that will keep me warm and dry vs things that will carry a name brand. Sometimes the best option is to buy a good jacket, and just get some cheap camo to go over top.

This is what I do. You should be gearing up just as you would in any other outdoor activity. Use layers.

I like UnderArmour stuff, they've got some good technology in their products and they fit me pretty good not like some other cheaper brands where they are made out of a big square peice of fabric. Their mid range stuff imo is great, their high end stuff meh too pricey I'd rather go Sitka, but that being said I have a cheap camo shell and I have some really nice base and mid layers, And if its raining like crazy I have a green goretex northface jacket...I can never come to grips with shelling out hundreds of dollars on camo stuff because If im spending the money I want something I can wear in public as well. The need for full camo all the time is ridiculous unless you're using the bow and need to be 25 yards from your prey.

camouflage really help or not? I never wear it and every year I'm successful. I was thinking to invest some money in camo but prices are out of touch

What's wrong with what ever you wear normally, why do you think you need a hunting specific jacket, I use what ever I am wearing at the time, most of the time it is a zip up hoody. First world problems

For turkey I think it helps but I really dont think its necessary to be camo'd down to the socks, half the animals you hunt you need orange anyways, I think its better to invest in earthy coloured outdoor gear.

anti hunters company ....

They're not anti hunting. They dropped their sponsorship to the wife of the guy that speared that bear in AB.

The fallout of the Cecil the Lion affair and so called "hunter friendly" companies was far greater (and equally nonsensical). If we'd boycott every manufacturer that's said something negative about a hunting practice, we'd be nude.

anti hunters company ....

Hardly. Every watch "the Canadian tradition". All Under Armour all the time. All kinds of great camo hunting gear. Sure its not cheap gear, but its not cheap gear. They make a quality product. A lot of my running gear is UA, I've used everyones over the years and it hold up and does the job better than any. Its also the most expensive. Every time I try a cheaper brand, I end up regretting it.

They aren't anti hunting. Do you really blame them for dropping the Bowmars? It was an easy move to protect themselves. The moron strapped a GoPro to a spear and stuck a bear with it, uses it for his hunting show and thinks there won't be any backlash? Yes he made a good kill and it looked like he knew what he was doing, but to the general public, how does that image represent the hunting community? The video wasn't really made in good taste IMO. Now spear hunting is under attack in Alberta, and the government vowed to get rid of spear hunting, all because some yankee wanted some camera footage.
