Which Large Pistol Primer For 45acp Target Loads

Federal are known for being the softest and the most sensitive to firing pins. And for being dramatically over-packaged, apparently because a skid of them exploded in a warehouse accident a few years ago. CCI are the hardest and have a reputation for being harder to ignite and for being oversized occasionally, causing problems with Dillon pickup tubes. Winchester primers are labelled as both regular and magnum, are pretty soft, and don't seem to have much of a reputation except for being brown while the other two are silver in colour.

My .45's and my Dillon 550 don't seem to care and they all go bang. I've used all three without any problems.

I use Win primer because of cost..$19.95 versus the Fed or CCI at $25 a thousand. I seen no difference in group size in swithching primer in low velocity target load in .45 ACP
