Which LH bolt action to buy??

I'm looking to buy a new LH bolt action rifle. I've looked at used, but prices seem to be close to new ones. Will be used for target and deer hunting and most likely in caliber 308. I've looked at supporting dealers on this site and have come to what I believe are good prices. I'm interested in the Savage FLHSS stainless, accutrigger and accustock and hinged floor plate. $664. Savage 14 classic LH blued wood stock. $733 Ruger Hawkeye MKII LH blued with nice wood stock and as with all Rugers, rings included at $724 and finally a blued Tikka lite with synthetic stock at a special price at $776.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
 
I have a LH Tikka Varmint in .223 and I love it. VERY smooth action, wicked trigger, and very accurate. Detachable mag is sweet too- six rounds of .223 or I think 4 in the .308 version.... makes for fast reloads on the gopher fields. :)

Personally, I'd go Tikka, but people either love them, or hate them.
 
rem 700 look for new if your not in a hurry you will find deals on leftys 2yrs ago I got a stainless laminated 338 rum for 550$

Frontier Firearms had some Savage 10FLCP-K in .223 and 308.

Accustock, AccuTrigger, Magazine, Fluted Barrel and Muzzlebreak.

No sights, but you will probably put a scope on it anyway.

Pretty good package right out of the box.

I've owned or own a few left hand rifles. Most are fairly decent. The Savage FLHSS is a good option for the price. Brownings are decent but a little more pricey... Never owned a Ruger, but that would be a good option as well. And Tikka is a decent rifle too.

Then there is Remington, but make sure there are no issues with the Trigger and/or bolt.

There are a few more, but the price starts to climb. Then you will find yourself looking at a Custom Rifle. Nice option of you know a good gunsmith who could assemble one for you with all the features that you like.
 
I would lean heavily towards the Savage option. Not that a Ruger or Tikka wouldn't serve you well. Savage is an excellent package for the price. The Ruger would be option two for me and Tikka last - I just don't care for the Tikka stock. My choices are mostly subjective...
 
I own a T3 Lite SS LH .308. Smooth as silk and shoots where you point it - the only thing is I'm wanting more metal - bottom metal, mag and bolt shroud are all polymer. I am aware of the CGN member who is milling new bolt shrouds, I just haven't made my order. The rifle is nice and light, I personally like the shape of the stock, though it might feel like it could shatter in the cold, it hasn't. Oh and it's 4 total - 3 in the mag and one up the pipe for the 308. What else - solid safety, easy bolt release. The 308 does kick a bit - I'm lightly built and sighting/rezeroing, or blowing stuff up quickly becomes bruising. I can carry it all day in deer season - trade offs.
My next rifle will be the Savage 10FLCP-K. Or a used LH BAR.
 
I have LH Ruger Hawkeye with instaled quite heavy 308 Win S&L 21" barrel, parkerized all barreled action and rings, glassbeded, with lapped bolt and rings that shoots easy 1/2 moa at 100m. The gun was litle bit rough around the edges when I bought it but now is as slick as any Tikka ever sold, All metal, has controled round feeding, build like a tank, no plastic parts what so ever, has no nonsense, bullet proof and best scope mounting system for any money included with rifle and proper size of action for the cartridge. At 7,75lbs ready to hunt with my 4x20mmBurris is all I could ever need from rifle to do 99% of the hunting I do. My second choice would be SS Savage mod 16 with some "improovements" of course and sorry Tikka lovers, I wouldn't consider it #3 or even #4. My 2c.
 
ruger and remington are the lefts so far.Almost got a t3 but couldent spend that much on plastic junk and my next will be a browning mico in 308 should make a good bush gun,love my rem just add the timney trigger. my ruger was lapped and rebarrelled and great,had a savage but it seemed cheap but hit everything you pointed it at good luck
 
I have a leftie Ruger 77mkII ss 30-06 as well as a leftie CZ452 and a CZ527 223. The CZs are far superior to the Ruger in fit and finish. If I were buying another leftie bolt it would likely be a CZ and yes, they are all steel mechs.
Also consider the leftie friendly Savage 99. Have a couple of those and the 99c 308 is my fave deer rifle and it has a DM. That said the Rugers have a rep for reliablilty and I always have it along just in case. Browning BLR is another leftie friendly choice.
 
I am also trying to decide on what LH bolt rifle to buy in the price range you are looking at. After much research, I have found that it is going to be a matter of how well the rifle feels in your hands. Next is what caliber that rifle is offered and what type of stock/barrel combo. If you are looking at new rifles, the options seem to be limited ie) if the Ruger fits well, it may not be manufactured in the caliber you want though I'm sure it's made in one that will do the job for you and, according to Ruger's website, it's apparently only offered in blued/walnut stock, no synthetic option. If you shop around enough, I'm sure you will find one that fills your needs. I have my eye on the Ruger M77 laminated/stainless in 7mm mag; they have them at Prophet River Firearms.

Im a lefty,i have remingtons,winchesters,ruger,savages,sako,will never buy another browning but will probly try a tikka.My older remingtons are still my fave!MHO.
