Which lower for multiple upper use?

I have a few too many extra Colt uppers to be buying dedicated lowers for them all. I'm having a hard time finding their original lowers anyway.

Problem is, some are mil-spec, some are large hole front pivot.

So which brand lower would you choose to humpback several uppers? One at a time of course.

Regards.

Any lower you want, take your pic. If you want to stick with Colt than I'd go for one of the newer small hole versions. Still a lot of aftermarket triggers made for the oversize Colt trigger pins if that's a consideration.

As for the large hole upper thing, no big deal. Just get the bushing and it will fit any small hole lower.

Ideally I was looking for a Colt lower, can't find anything up here. People are holding onto Colts like grim death.

I like the Stags myself, I thought RRA could do it and LMT I like, though I don't know if an LMT stipped lower can be had. Now that kako911 has chimed in with the Stag, I'll likely go that route. (Sometimes ya gotta listen to the big boys).
I can't see a more expensive lower make much of a difference in this case. I'll install my own parts if I must. I've got an Armalite kit on hand and a choice of a few stocks too.

What do you owners say about your Stags? What about my particular choice of LPK, do you think there would be any fit issues in any area with armalite parts in a Stag lower?

Are there any disadvantages using one lower for multiple uppers? I have bolt 'n carriers for all.

I think LMT, STAG and Armalite are pretty much the same. Granted, I haven't shot many many rounds to tell you which LPK go wrecked first......

The best LPK i have seen so far are Armalite and STAG arms (same as Colt). So far they are the most trouble free and best machined or fitted kits i have seen in a long time. There are no issues with multiple uppers. I went that route. But if you have a 9mm upper.... The hammer and magwell adaptor swap might get annoying.

Stag has decent prices and the quality is there.

You cant go wrong.

Cool that's all good to hear guys.

I have a dedicated 9mm lower that serves a 16" RRA upper and/will my close to finished 7" 9mm. I have the RRA block in one of Dlask's very first lowers. Works good. Thousands of rounds downrange.

So I'm leaning more and more on a Strag. Who by chance has stripped Stags in stock?

Dlask is actually working on lowers "custom made"... I saw them in production, very nice and highly recomended...

Someone had a Colt small hole lower for sale in the EE recently. Can't remember if it had a stock or not but the internals were there. Price was $600. It did have a sear block which means that you can't use an M16 carrier in it.

If you really want Colt than you just may have to buy a complete rifle, might be cheaper anyway. Just make sure that the lower is small hole.
