Recently purchased my first AR, Colt MRR and I'm looking for suggestions as to what mags to get. Any advice would be appreciated. I bought one E-Lander at the same time as the rifle, only because I recognized the name and it seemed like it was well built but ?
Thanks

If you're a civi and only loading 5rds it makes no difference what mag you use. I would use the standard G.I. Mag, do stay away from the colored Magpul mags. The dye makes them weaker than the standard black and you could get cracked feed lips.

This is not entirely correct. The earlier coloured magazines had issues with the feed lips, but the new tan coloured Gen3 mags are actually made from a more durable polymer than the black ones. Additionally, they can be dyed with Rit dye, or similar, to whatever colour you like, with the longer the dye contact time, the darker the colour, and the deeper it penetrates into the polymer (so that scratches are less noticeable), without any know effect on the strength.

Gen2 Pmags work well in AR's and are plentiful and cheap (right now, all bets are off Nov 9). Get lots.

Of course you want a few Beo's as well.

Like Ammo, you can never have too many mags.

Good to know , thanks Mark :)

It doesn't matter. Just pick the ones you have easiest access to and buy one then go try it, if it's reliable go back and buy 4 more. If they're all reliable go buy 5 more.
I have gen 2 and gen 3 pmags, GI style aluminum and stainless body mags and a couple HERA arms mags, and a few other random mags. They all feed my AR's, ACR, AR180B and any other rifle I've owned that took STANAG pattern magazines. If they are unreliable strip them and find out why or just sell them and try a different type. AR's aren't usually picky with magazines so you should be good no matter what you buy.
