Looking for some input. I'm putting together a 338 Edge with a Shilen 30" select match Prefit barrel in the heavy Bull contour.
I'm trying to decide what type of Brake to put on it. I'm looking at the Harrell's, Defensive Edge, or possibly one of Rick's from ATRS.
The Harrell's are very inexpensive ($30.00), then the DE at $80.00.
Price is a bit of a consideration, but I do want to tame the sting from this heavy cartridge. Anyone have experience with the Harrell's or DE?

I have 4 port DE brakes on a couple 7STWs and they do work well. I think Harrell's make a gill style brake like the DE so it would be worth asking about. Rick's brakes look similar in design so I would imagine they all do the trick. I would opt for a gill style brake as I have shot brakes like the vais design and there is more felt concussion.

I put a Holland brake on my 300 rum and it has very little recoil now. The down side is that you never want to shoot it with out ear protection or you will damage your hearing. I only use this gun from a blind or stand it is not a carry gun at all. I left my sunglasses sitting on the bench a foot or two to the side one time when I was shooting and it blew the lenses right out of them. It will set of a car alarm 30 feet away if the car is even close to being even with the muzzle.

Does anyone know if the brake "blanks" you buy like the DE or Harrells' come threaded or does the smith have to do that as well? If so it's probably just as easy/cheap to have the smith install his or the ones he normally uses?
