I've been out of rimfires for over 13 years. When I was doing any .22 shooting, it was with team provided Anchutz match guns, so I'd say an I little spoiled when it comes to accuracy and trippers. My club is involved with quite a few friendly .22 matches, and i got sucked into borrowing another member's rifle and giving it a go. I really enjoyed myself, and now the old itch is back. I don't have a big pile of cash to sink into this, but I'm looking for suggestions for a good quality rimfire. Doesn't have to be pretty, but accurate and a good trigger are a must. Lots of folks are going the CZ 452 route, and there are more than a couple savages doing very well at the matches. I was torn between a CZ 452 varmint, and a Savage MK II BR, and then I stumbled on a BRNO #4. Anything else I should consider, or discount?

Howdy

I was in the same boat this past fall. I was trying to deside between a 1416 Anchutz and a CZ453 Varmint.

In the end I went with the CZ453. The 1416 seemed a lot of $$$ for what looks like a German made Cooey action.

I picked a 453 over the 452 because of a better trigger and the barrel is free floating. 452 has a bedding screw in the barrel.

I mounted a Leupold 6x42 target/hunter scope on my 453. With Eley standard ammo, it give one hole cloverleafs (5 shots) at 50 meters.

I am very happy with my purchase:D
