Just looking for a new and cheap toy. My choices are norinco np22, walther p1 or russian tokarev (7.62x25). First of all I was really impressed with the np22. It felt pretty decent, was finished pretty well and had a very nice SA trigger.
The russian tokarev....my only previous experience with a tokarev was a norinco version (m213 I think) in 9mm. This russian version is leaps and bounds better as far as fit and finish is concerned. It was tighter and smoother in comparison.
I have no experience with the Walther P1 at all but it was in decent shape.

Which would you choose for a range banger?

I handled a Norinco NP22 last week at the range, and it seemed better than my Sig 226 which I got rid off last year.
A very nice gun for $360.00.

The Norc is almost 2x's the price so not sure it is really a fair comparison.

I have recently bought a Tokarev, and for the money it is an awesome buy. The ammo is fun and cheap as well. My gun is in awesome shape, and I am really enjoying it, but the trigger is terrible, and the corrosive ammo means it has to be cleaned thoroughly after each use.

The NP22 is an amazing gun for the money, but I would also look at the NP29 which are highly sought after until this recent shipment. They would be better choices for a gun that you want to shoot a lot, or as a primary firearm.

The Tokarev for me is just for ####s and giggles, and my G17 is my go to.

If you have other guns and just want some fun, and to stay cheap the tokarev is a great option.

If you are looking to get something for lots of range time, and skills development I can't recommend the Tokarev, and would say either of the Norcs mentioned are better options.
