Which one has better barrel life??

I think I know the answer but thought I'd get the opinion of guys with a lot more experience then me...
260AI vs 6AI which has better barrel life?

260AI should get 1500-2000 accurate rounds out of it. Not sure what the barrel life for 6mm Rem is to start with.

No personal experience. But 6 AI carries a bit more powder with a bit bigger ratio of how overbore it is so I'd venture it would be shorter by a small margin.

I agree with this. I have shot a 6mm Ackley for years and can tell you that it can/does errode throats.

It all depends on how hot you load it and how hot the bore is allowed to get while shooting.

I dont shoot mine much anymore, but it is very accurate out to 1200 yards with 88grain Berger VLD varmint bullets (flat based).

I had a .243 Ackley and shot out the top accuracy in 900rds. in F-Class matches. The 6mm Rem AI is even more overbore.
Better barrel life with the .260 AI.

As far as I know a 6mm rem with its long neck lasts a good many rounds from what I have been told by guys shooting them.

A long neck doesnt help with throat erosion as far as I can tell.
Over bore is overbore.

I have noticed a change of .009-.010" in just 150-200 rounds in my 6mm Ackley!
Great caliber, just hungry for barrel steel like many others.
