One of these will be my next pistol. Although I have never dry fired a sr9. Not sure about the trigger. PPX is kinda growing on me. any comments? I have ruled out the sd9 by s and w. Trigger on the one I tried was super awful. That PPX trigger is sweet.

Well I can't speak for the PPX, but my SR9 is a great gun...I've had it a couple months, 350-400 rounds through it with 0 issues.

SR9 without a doubt. It's been out longer, been updated a couple of times with a ton of satisfied owners like myself. The PPX was designed to be the cheapest thing they make and most reviewers mention that . Yes it's a Walther which is a great company, but the PPX needs more time to prove itself. IMHO

I'm surprised what a good shooter the PPX is for the price range it's in. I find it extremely accurate. Two points that give me pause issuing a recommendation is:

1. After first 200-300 rounds, experienced failure to fire. Striking pin was not hitting the primer. Had to punch out the firing pin block and thoroughly clean. Not a big deal, but it is a known issue. Unclear to me if this will be a necessary step to regular maintenance.

2. Cannot find spare mags.

Depending on your needs for a handgun, these may or may not be deal breakers. Frustrating as it does feel good in the hands and shoots very well.

Good point on the spare mags, I am guessing other things like holsters and mag holders might be more avail for the Sr9.

The ruger is much better than many want to give it credit for. It's a gun snobs nightmare. And mods to improve it are readily available. Can't speak for the Walther.

I agree that the Ruger is very underrated.... After a couple of years, the SR9 is still one of my favourite "nines" to shoot as it feels great in your hand and points back on target quickly, which to me, is a great reliable and accurate pistol. I haven't had the chance yet to try the Walther, but my mind can't get past the "elephant foot" grip. The PPX looks sort of like a mutant compared to the SR9.

The ppx is an amazing 9mm pistol. It's built with walther quality and the trigger makes shooting accurate and quick shots easy. I heard a guy that had a ppq & ppx say that he might actually like the trigger on the ppx better. I've seen a couple veteran pistol shooters geek out on how impressive the trigger is

I don't own an SR9 but a friend of mine does. It shoots well, very accurate. If I was in the market for another 9mm I would consider one for sure.

Had a PPX and it was a great gun, very accurate and no troubles at all. I agree with the mag problem though and that was the reason I sold it. You have to think of how available space parts are when making a gun purchase because sooner or later you will need some. I ended buying a M&P 9 (actually two, one CORE) and I love the guns. Best part is spares are available everywhere and walked into my local gun shop and bought mags for it

M&P has amongst the least expensive mags out there. Both the PPX and M&P range kits a good values.

I've shot em both, and either will be fine. Walther gives you bragging rights but i don't think it's that much better of a pistol then the SR9...both are made to a price point. The walther may shoot slightly better, but i don't find any real difference untill it gets out to 25 yards, when the walther shot maybe an inch tighter then the SR. Easier to find holsters and mags for the ruger, and as stated, you have a chance of warranty with it, whereas good luck if there are problems with the walther. Not that your likely to have problems with either. Resale on the walther will probably be a bit higher if your the sort to sell....

Took my wife to the range with all my handguns yesterday, for her very first time even holding a handgun. Shot, .22, 9mm, 40 S&W , 38 special and full house 357 magnum. I told her to concentrate on how the gun was easy to use, nice trigger, recoil, etc. She walked away with saying the SR9 is her gun, easy to hold, recoil is very manageable, quick to point after the shot and the trigger was very smooth . All this from a first time shooter. The SR9 is one dam good pistol for the money !

Ya, the availability of mags. holsters. parts means a lot. PPX has a nice trigger, but maybe I will consider a m and p 9. BUT?? what is the deal with mags? I hear people #####ing about them being hard to seat when loaded to ten? I will not alter a factory mag by trimming the spring and follower, I would just buy a different pistol.
