I am planning on purchasing a new varmint rifle. My choices are:
1.Remington 700 Varmint Laminated Stock
2.Tikka T3 HB Varmint

What do you think i should get???

I like remingtons because of all the extra parts availabl for them(triggers, stocks, etc). But i have shot tikkas before and they have a super smooth action. What should I do???

BOOOOO! Get the Tikka Varmint.

I bought one, and never regretted it for a second. More accurate than a 'stock' remington (in my experience) and silky smooth action. 6 round detachable mags make it a gopher shooter's dream. :) That's pretty much all I use it for, and it's SWEET.

Not sure what the Rem barrel twist is in .223, but my Tikka is 1-8", and will use up to 75gr without issue.

Go for the Remington. More after market parts available than a Tikka and easy to upgrade your own kit from home. For a hunting rifle, a Tikka can be very accurate straight from the shelf, but I can't say I have ever heard of any hard core hunters, competitive shooters, or real world tactical shooters ever choosing a Tikka to make an accurate shot.

I went with the Remington 700 VLS ... it's in 223.

No regrets. Had my gunsmith redo the trigger pull to 2 lbs. Breaks like glass, no creep or over-travel, and added a Gretan lightweight firing pin, shroud and spring.

When I do my part, the gun shoots 55 gr. handloads into 1/2" at 200.

What's not to like ? Be advised that the twist Remington puts on this barrel
( 1:12) pretty much limits you to 60 gr. max. If you want to play with heavier bullets
and long-range shooting, you'd better take the Tikka HB Varmint or Super Varmint with its 1:8 twist.
