I am in process of acquiring my first magnum rifle, in 300. Win Mag, most likely, and I would appreciate some imput from you guys. Mainly, which manufacturer is more respected in terms of out-of-box performance, construction/reliability, and accuracy. Detachable magazine and decent capacity would be appreciated, as well.
I've shot Sako and Browning in the past, but only in smaller calibers, so I would appreciate some infos from pros on this forum.
Cheers.

Browning A-Bolt .300 Win Mag = A1

I have a Browning A-bolt Composite Stalker with the 26" barrel [no BOSS]. This rifle is a keeper. Prints sub 1" @ 100 yards with my pet .300 Win Mag handload. Before this rifle I had a Ruger 77 'tangsafety' with the 24" barrel. It was nice too & a great shooter but I still like the Browning better. If I was buying again I'd go for the Browning in the Stainless Stalker [without the BOSS]. ;) :D

hahah

That' funny, I'm the exact opposite. You couldn't give me an A-Bolt, but I love Rugers after a trigger job.:D

Alot of help we are going to be!:)

I am with billyc On this one the T-3 s are awsome. Theres alot of personel pref in my statement however? Why knock a good thing.
Great gun can get into a synth blue for about 700.00

I have to agree with Amphibious on this one. You get what you pay for in life and guns are no different.

Sako have a very long tradition of being extremely accurate rifles right out of the box. This is the norm rather than the exception with Sako unlike some other manufacturers where you are one of the lucky ones if you get a "keeper".

Have the exact configuration as NAA - 300 WM in Composite Stalker. It shoots 1 MOA with 165 gr bullets. I have to work up loads for 180 gr and 200 gr bullets. :D :D :D

The 26" barrel is a bit longer than what I like. This is the only one among 4 A-bolts that eat copper. I hate cleaning it.

Wow... It's like getting Psych Evaluation from 10 different shrinks. 10 different opinions. :)
I get the feeling that everyone has their favourites, and it all depends on personal preferences. I think I will go down to local sporting goods shop, and see what fits my bill. I guess, price aside, rifle has to be comfortable with you, right?
Thanks for all you opinions. Guess I can always depend on you guys' opinions, whether you people agree with each others or not. Hahaha.
Cheers.

If your budget is smaller, the tikka t-3 is a great buy for the money. If your budget is larger, the sako 75 is a great rifle. All sako and tikka rifles must shoot 1" groups before being sold.

I owned a tikka T3 hunter in 300WM.The rifle had a detachable clip however the clip is .2 of an inch shorter than the chamber so big jump to the land.Yes it shot some factory and some handloads under MOA.
At 6.75lbs bare, the rifle was a real handfull to shoot on the bench and freehand.I traded it on a 700BDLSS same caliber much nicer to shoot, everybit as accurate. My money is on the remy.RB

".

So paying for a gun that gurantee's 1 inch groups is a bad thing. I dont see Remchester, Savage, Ruger, Weatherby, Browning ect.... doing anything like that.
Tikkas are no Sako but at least there no some POS Savage;)

Cheers!!
