Which rings for my scope?

I bought a Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10x40 CDS Duplex Scope and plan to mount it on a CZ 452 Varmint .22lr. It has a 1" tube diameter. Can anyone recommend what rings I should get? I believe I would need medium height rings to clear the objective? Will I need ring base mounts for the CZ 452?

Also, wondering if I should just take this to a gunsmith to mount for me. Is this something a newbie can tackle? This is my first rifle/scope. Watching videos on how to mount, not sure if I need to lap the rings and need a reticle leveling system?

Thanks

You dont necessarily need a gun smith, but you should consult someone who has done this before. You must have a friend or a friendly face at the club or LGS you can ask?
You typically want the lowest possible rings, which can take some research and can likely lead to buying the wrong ones. Call ahead and a good store owner would let you bringing in your rifle and loose fit the rings to ensure they are the right height.

Im not familiar with that rifle and what kind of stock it has, but most firearms have the stock height set for low profile irons, and it only takes a few mm of excessive scope height before proper cheek weld is impossible with modifications to the stock.

With a .22lr lapping should not be required. You've got a nice scope there, so dont cheap out on the rings.

They have a chart matching scopes , rings etc for Cz
I put an EGW rail on mine so I could mix and match scopes
Warne 7.3/22 rings can be used on American and European dovetails, flipping the side grasping piece

^this. Medium MIGHT work, but if you want to be sure...get the HIGH. These are my preferred rings for any rimfire application. As for a gunsmith~your call, they can certainly do it for you. I've never lapped scope rings...nor do I own any scope leveling equipment. On the other hand, sometimes I mount a scope and it looks perfect...until I get it out shooting only to notice its off by a few degrees. lol

If there is anything working against those Warne rings it's this~the top part of the ring is greater than a half circle, so it kind of "clips" onto the scope. Tightly too. It can be a little tricky making minor adjustments. Like all scopes/scope rings...starting to tighten them can actually rotate the scope slightly, I find these Warne rings among the "less forgiving" for that. lol I still think they're the best, most minimal, clean looking, etc.

Just take your rifle and visit Al Flaherty. Dominic or Andy will surely assist and help you to buy a proper setup. You do need a scope rail/rings mounts if your rifle doesn't have it. Better to buy one piece rail, EGW is your best money/quality choice. You don't need to lap rings for 22lr. You can buy Leupold rings as well. Do not tighten the screws too hard. No need to put torque more than 18in/lb.

I went with Leupold rings and the scope could not be any lower. It is very close to the bolt handle. Like an eighth of an inch.

Doesn't matter who's the manufacturer. Only height of the rings matters. Leupold makes low, medium, high and extra high rings, so do others.
