which scope for 300WM and 338 lapua

ok, so the time is coming where i need to buy a scope, and mounting hardware, it will be for a 300 win. mag in a savage hunter series rifle, i need something 'overkill' as it will hopefully be used on a 338 lapua or ultra mag or similar in the future, i certainly don't want to cheap out, although maybe the top of the line isn't necessary, what would you all suggest for power settings and fov etc, both field shooting and in the hills, aside from the bench. thanks. im not so worried on price, but rather don't want to be disappointed with it..

Zeiss, IOR... anything with etched reticle... no wires. the more expensive ones are not hard to find.... hehe.. (S&B, Hensholdt, Swarovski and... don;t laugh Super Sniper) mainly all of them with a full lifetime warranty.

Power? 3-9 on b.g. hunting and 14-16x on varmints

Rings...mounts.... Badger.. IOR.. TPS. You'd like steel. Bigger is better.

That at leas is what guys shooting "the big 'uns" are recommending.
I don;t own any big one, so maybe someone with actual time behind a .50 will chime in. Alberta Tactical ?
