What kind of scope mounts do you guys recommend to use on a Savage 12FV or LE series? Are the plain weaver ounts from WSS any good for a few bucks a pop, or would B-Square be a good choice? I am looking for something solid, that won't break the bank (would also prefer NOT having to use loc-tite unless absolutely necessary), and something I can find maybe at Wholesale or Russell's.

Thanks!

On my 12FV I opted for the Richard Near base it is great,You could get a Ken Farrel base as well I have heard good things about his products

For my own Savage FV 26" 308 (without Accu-Trigger), I tried to keep with the budget theme of the rifle. I purchased a set of Weaver all steel Grand Slam bases and fitted them with a set of Weaver Detachable Top Mounts. The scope is a Leupold VX III 3.5-10x and the total cost for mount and rings are approximately $50.

The Weaver Detachable Top Mounts and scope can be removed and replaced without any significant change of impact. It is very useful for periodic checking of the scope base screws.

Using Hornday 168gr handloads, this combo have shot 3 shot 11/2" groups at 200m. So far, no problems.

I've got a Farrell base on my LE2B. I was extremely happy with the service I got (couldn't ask for better). The product is excellent as well. It's the way I'd go again if I needed another base.

FYI: Last night I had problems fitting two-peice Leupold bases to my new 12fv.

The front dovetail mount is maybe 2 'thou too long and required slight grinding at its leading edge to fit correctly.
