i need some help deciding on these 2 models. i am looking for shotguns for me and my son.we are both lefties so choices are limited.i am thinking of a 20ga. for my 12yr old.i don 't know if ithica makes one in 20ga. but browning does.what do you guy's think.

ithaca did make a model 37 in 20 ga. you'll be able to find one if you look around. the BPS is a good gun as well, but will run more to buy used than the ithaca. ellwood epps in orillia has 17 full pages of everything in sept./07 issue of canadian access to firearms. 705-689-5333 or fax 705-689-2279. you really can't go wrong with either one IMHO. good luck

Ithaca all the way!! Simple, Reliable, ambidextrous, I always thought the pump release was in the perfect spot, although that may change for a lefty.

They are both good guns the bps has a tang safety which is good for either hand, the bps will have screw in chokes which will allow you to shoot steel for waterfowl hunting. Depending on the size of your son, browning has a micro 20ga bps that is youth sized. I have owned ithaca's in 12 and 16ga and I presently have bps's in 3 guages, the chokes are a nice feature. Just my 2 cents worth, it really depends on which one fits you the best.
Regards

The ithaca safety can be changed out for a lefty safety, no problem. Uncle Mike's used to make them, not sure who does now, but they are out there.

choked barrels are available for ithacas serialized after 855,000. Or, just have your full choke barrel opened up to modified and be done with it.

What 12 magnum said. Also, the disconnector can be disabled on an Ithaca shotgun pretty easily by a gunsmith, or alternately, you can swap out the trigger group for a later one. Lots of gunsmiths have spare trigger groups lying around as many guns have been scraped so guys with POL's and deep pockets can get additional barrels.
