I am interested to know everyones option on what they would buy if they could only have one hunting/skeet shotgun in each action/style type. lets say for arguments sake that price was no object but looking for the best over all value taking quality, reliability, and finish in to account. So structure your answers like this:
Pump - pick
Semi - pick
O/U - pick
SxS - pick
(and if you want) single shot - pick
If you must pick a tactical shotgun, feel free but I am looking more at peoples' picks for nice wood, full barrel hunting/skeet shotguns. (Not that I have anything against tactical shotguns, I have three, but I am interested in the full size kind right now).

Only one???!!!

The horror the horror...

My 'personal' picks...

Pump: Browning BPS (I really like the bottom ejection...and own one)
Semi: Beretta A391 Xtrema 2 (If I ever wanted to own a semi...but I don't currently)
O/U: Browning Cynergy Sporting (Prrrrrrrrretty...prrrrrrrrrretty out of my price range too!)
SxS: Hmmmmm...not sure actually!

4 shotguns, one of each configuration would require that each perform more than one function.

Pump: Remington 870 12 gauge with a 20" rifle-sighted slug barrel and a 28" ribbed barrel with Briley aftermarket choke tubes. This is my slug/predator control gun and my back up waterfowler.

Semi: Beretta 391 Sporting 12 gauge with a 30" Optima barrel. If money were no object I'd have the gun into Seminole and tricked out with their action and trigger job. Then I'd go to NCP and get one of their high rib 32" barrels, adjustable stock and a release trigger. With the pull trigger and factory stock it would be my waterfowler and back up/loaner sporting gun. With the high rib barrel and release trigger I'd use it for ATA trap.

Over/under: A Perazzi MX8 Sporting gun with 32" barrels, Briley or Teague chokes installed aftermarket, fitted and upgraded wood. I shoot sporting mostly but if I woke up one day with an inexplicable urge to shoot competitive skeet, I'd buy a set of carrier barrels and have subgauge tubes installed that weighed the same as the 12 gauge barrels.

Side by side: Well this is when we get to the dreaming part. With a flush bank account I'd have a David McKay Brown 12 gauge 30" two barrel set choked skeet and light mod and a second set choked IC and IM. I'd probably have to get a Famars Zeus while I waited for the DMB to be built but would make the sacrifice.

Never let it be said that Claybuster does not know his shotguns, WOW! I was expecting answers like RDS's (great answers as well by the way RDS) but you really know what you want don't you.

Only allowed 1 of each. Well, I'd knock the SxS off my list right away because I am not into them.

Pump - Browning BPS Stalker.
Semi - Browning Auto-5 Mag., 32" barrel
O/U - Browning Cynergy
...all 12 gauge.
...notice a pattern? I would be tempted to take the Gold Semi or the Binelli SBE II for semi options, but the fact is I've never killed a goose or duck with a 3.5 shell that wouldn't have fellen to a 3" mag, and I just flat out shoot better with the Auto-5 than any other shotgun I've tried.
