Hello all,

I'm in the process of building a deer/turkey 870. I wanted to put a retractible stock on it just to make it compact while lugging it around. The Knoxx 6 point adjustable stock with recoil supressor has caught my eye. Will that Knoxx recoil supressing stock be any good for hunting situations where you are taking shots at a distance (100yrds)?

"...recoil supressing stock..." Not much need for one or a retractible stock on a hunting shotgun. Slings are for lugging firearms to and from the blind.

I have injured my shoulder twice this year and may need surgery on it. I was thinking of my shoulder when I looked into this. I also have a gf that is alot shorter than me that will be shooting the gun on occassion. The recoil supressor and adjustable stock will come in handy for her.

My main concern is the accuracy while shooting slugs at a distance with the stock. Anyone know?

I love mine. I can make decent/fatal shots out to at least 75 yards with my specop'ed 870. I find shes a lot nicer to lug around and handle with the short stock and pistol grip. The grip gives a more stable hold on the gun.

Yep, that particular recoil reducing stock works great......although, it doesn't actually "reduce" the recoil, it just takes the "Recoil Impulse" and lengthens it. There is no way to lose recoil, only distribute it over a longer period of time......this stock does it very well! It will have no affect on accuracy of any particular shotgun.

Yup, it is a great stock, taken deer out to about 150 yards with the 870 with that stock. Still makes a nice light gun to carry.

ive had my spec ops for a while now and its awesome. its really nice having an adjustable LOP when hunting in the winter. it doesnt effect accuracy at all. but, it is more comfortable to hold so maybe it will give a slight increase for some?

Like Styles, personally I don't care for recoil buffer stocks. I've tried the whole AR buffer tube/stock and pistol grip. While the later has some uses, I don't find them particularly great in the camp/hunt environment....or perhaps, not as natural and less handy, more dedicated.

In any case, if you are dead set on a recoil buffer system: As mentioned, there is the Enidine tube or the cheaper Knoxx Spec Ops for the AR type.

For a traditional stock, Knoxx makes the below(Comp Stock) as well. LOP: 13.5"

Caveat: I've never used this particular model. I rock a synthetic stock most of the time.

Note: The Spec Ops model compresses on two ends, whereas the Comp compresses only at the shoulder interface. What does this mean? If for whatever illogical reason you decide fire unshouldered, the Spec Ops model will still have recoil buffer action, whereas the Comp will not.
