Hello Everybody,
getting back into hunting and target shooting after a dozen year hiatus.
For my main rifle I have ordered a Savage Long Range Hunter in 308. It is to be used for target shooting and deer hunting. Now the big question is what kind of scope should I get on it? Looking at different scopes at the local gun store and lurking on this forum for quite a while I decided on a Leupold VX-2. This scope comes in a large number of different configurations and I am torn as to what would be best.
The two configurations that are hard to choose from is the VX-2 in 4-12x50 with the LR duplex. This sight has 2 dots below the cross hairs to compensate for bullet drop over long distance.
The second configuration is VX-2 4-12x50 CDS with Custom Dial System which is basically a turret that has been calibrated to the ammunition that you shoot which compensates for bullet drop.
Which is the better system to go with in your opinion for hunting, target shooting and a combination of both?
Thank you for your time.
Frank
