I want to but one of the Swiss Arms rifle, which will be my first rifle. My question is which one would you get/have & why? I know the Black Special is non-restricted, which is a huge selling point, but I think I would like to get one of the smaller ones first, just a personal preference. I don't have a way where I can actually hold/feel the rifle, so any input would be great. If anyone has a pic of the CQB & Carbine together for comparison please post, that would be a great help

Got to witness a Swissarms shorty in action at the last Tac Rifle match...cool little rifle (9" barrel) but I gotta tell you, the thing will probably detatch your retinas, tear your aeorta and deafen you with sustained use. It is one violent, loud and obnoxious gun!! Still wouldn't mind one of my own though! :D

If I had the funds, I would order a "Heavy Metal" tommorow!!! 8)

The only problem with the Carbine , is it does not come with the rear diopter sight . Thats a big piece missing , it does have a lil flip up rear sight . But it kind of pushes you towards needing the expense of purchasing a sight ( Aimpoint , Eotech or Acog ) .

The advantage of the carbine is that it comes with rail so you don't have to spend 200 bucks to buy another piece of rail that raises the optic above the receiver and hence, eliminate the need to buy the cheek piece. I wish the CQB comes with rail ahead of the diopter...I would gladly pay anotehr 200 bucks for that kind of arrangement.

CQB is kinda fun but if you don't have optic the sight radius will limit your range. The Carbine is more like the optimal general purpose rifle, if you are interested in 300m+. If you are only shooting at 25m indoor range behind a booth or just prop the rifle on a bench at 100m, then it does not really matter whether it is a 21" or 9".

How are you shooting with the CQB? How far out have you shot it. Do you have optics on it yet?

I'm waiting anxiously for my CQB to ship/arrive. Since October rolled in, my dog is starting to look at me funny, 'cause I'm making more trips to the front door to check out every van that drives by than he is! Just like a kid waiting for Xmas morning! Only thing that has kept me distracted is Moose hunting. Heading back in tomorrow...my luck I won't be home when/if the brown van shows up! It'll be interesting to find out what is more "obnoxious" my new CQB or my 7mm Rem Mag with muzzle break!

I'll probably pick up the optional picatinny rail later, but for shooting out to 200M I prefer the standard diopter iron sights. They seem to suit the rifle as well. The carbine would be more attractive if it came with the standard diopter rear sight and rail. However, I figured if I was going to buy another restricted rifle, might was well go whole hog and get the CQB. Accurate enough out to 300M for what I want it for, extreme "Look Cool Factor" and it should work well for most 3-gun competitons and similar shooting pursuits. For the most part, I'll probably use it mostly for punching paper out to 200M.

I considered getting the Carbine. However, from my perspective, there isn't much the Carbine can do that the non-restricted Black Special/Classic Green, etc... can't do.

If you want to shoot service rifle I would get the full lenght version but the carbine would also work ok. The one thing that I really like about the carbine over the full lenght is the 1:7" twist. I've rebarreled my full lenght with a 1:7" barrel to overcome the limitation of the 1:10" twist that is standard on the full lenght rifles.

Got the barrel from TSE for around $400 and changed it myself. I bougth the rifle used to start with so it still cost less than a new one even after fitting the 1:7" barrel.

Plus the shorter barrel gives the carbine a better balance than the full length rifle. You will thank yourself during run down.
