Which should I sell to complete my Long Range Rifle fetish?

No4 Mk1* September 1950 Longbranch. Barrel is excellent. Just bueatiful dark wood and looks like it came out of the wrapping paper yesterday. All matching with bayonet

No4 Mk2 ROF September 1953,Barrel is excellent. Just bueatiful blonde wood. All matching with No.9 Blade Bayonet.

I like both but am looking at a historic Canada aspect as well(although not WW2)

Any ideas, and values.

Either rifle should sell easily. The Mk. II has essentially no Canadian historic association, of course. Is the LB one of the ones from Belgium? Is that a piling swivel on its upper band? Last really nice LB I personally saw sell went for $375. I've seen them listed for more.
 
That LB, if unissued, will bring $500 without too much trouble in the exchange forum. REALLY good kit brings premium prices.

The No.4MkII in that used condition is probably a $275 rifle or so at most... definitely worth less in Canada than the LB.

Yes, but the No.4Mk2's bringing $500+ are the ones still in the wrap and cosmolene. The unwrapped and fired ones are valued much lower as a post-war shooter with somewhat limited collector appeal compared to a Korean War era LB. (the No.4MkII was not generally issued in Korea)
 
No 4 LB

I would keep the No 4 LB if it was WW2 but the No 4 LB 1950's would be desirable because they are fewer in quantity. I haven't taken my No 4 Mk2 out of the grease and that's where it is going to stay. I would like to have a really nice No 4 LB 1950's as mine is a little rough stock wise. I could always restock it in 50's wood as i have a number of complete stocks sets lying in wait for a restoration project. I would keep both if I were you, but I have kept too many Enfields over the years, just ask my wife. They aren't making any more new ones, and the nice ones are rare. I think of them as an investment, and each one taken out of the grease and shot makes mine worth more.

I'd keep the LB, for sure.

As an aside, where do '49 LB's rank as far as production numbers go?
 
How many of those do you have?:eek:

Well since i have already relieved you of one this month, i'm nto buying any, but i'd sell the mkII one and keep the LB if i were you.
