Which one should I get, its for a Stiller predator action based on the Rem 700,This is what I am thinking, Jewell, Kepplinger single set, Canjar single set or Shillen. I want the trigger pull at 2lbs, and if it is a set trigger 2lbs regular and at set, 8oz. Which one would you guys recomend? The rifle is going to be 7mm Dakota, 26in 5R rockcreek barrel ss fluted No 4 contour, and a Mcmillan edge in Rem hunter.

Thanks
Elmer

Jewel...Why spend money on a custom action and not have the best?
Jewel triggers are quite narrow and offer good feel.....1-1/2 pounds is no problem...I can drop the pull weight to a few ounces in about 15 minutes.

Set triggers are just another toy you don't need on a rifle. Just another thing to F/U in the heat of the moment.

Canjar set triggers are very wide cumbersome feeling units...nothing special for the money IMHO.

Sounds like a nice rig!

For that weight of trigger any of them are fine. The Jewell is nice however. If you can't find one here then the easiest way to get one is to order with your action. Jewell or Timney. I have some experience with the Canjar set trigger and I would not put one on my rifle. They spring load the shoe so when you touch the tab it snaps back and in effect pulls the trigger. What I saw was not consistent in its action.

These are not avalable today, but if you want/like 2-stage, we will have a true drop in for Rem 700 style and other actions in the near future. The manufacturer of the CG triggers is Peter Jackson Rifles, Scotland. I have a preprodction run and they are tops.

Peter

I have seen lots of guys screwing around with Jewel triggers because they would not hold the adjustment. This was a few years ago so that problem might be fixed. I have a CG trigger on my CG Millennium rifle that is great. I like the straight trigger shoe, set it once and forget about it.

X-fan, I can tell you where my money would be (and will be) spent! I have a bunch of these on order and I had kind of forgotten about them, sorry. We supply stocks to the guy that makes them.

Too funny! Is this new wonder trigger better then Kelbly's new BR trigger? Look who I am asking....dah...You guys slay me. Lots of monkeys out there screwing with every thing and blaming the equipment. I have heard stories about the CG triggers as well.....must be like the new wonder drug for us gunaholics.....

were you able to find some good brass in 7mm Dakota? I heard someone say the 338 Dakota was made by Lapua but the other cals were some other company and the quality just wasn't there.

Dakota sells it and its made by Norma, I hear Norma is very good brass and it costs 1.62 per shell for 100 and they ship to Canada.

pin, we ask that you please elaborate on CG trigger stories. This is important, as reliablity and safety are crucial elements to trigger use.

My goodness. I think all the triggers are safe, did someone say they weren't? I don't even know of an unsafe Timney or any brand. Do you?

I have Jewel on my .308 - if there is a better trigger I don't know about it. There have been no issues with changes in adjustment. I think it's just a gunnutz nature to screw around with his triggers.

Peter I am surprised you haven't heard them. I don't want to spread the second hand news. Its only second hand and maybe the sources aren't too accurate. If you say they are great triggers they must be.
