Which type of AICS style magazine?

I've got a Cadex CDX-30 that will hopefully be showing up in the next couple of weeks. I've ordered one mag with the rifle, an Accurate Mag I believe. There seems to be quite a few options on the market and I'm wondering what your thoughts are for cost vs quality can value. If it can be avoided, I don't want to pay 100+$ for mags.

AI mags
Accurate Mags
Magpul mags
MDT mags
Alpha mags
Ruger mags
I'm sure there are more.

What do you run and why? What should I get?

The CDX is in 6.5 Creedmoor, which I understand has a slightly long OAL length than .308. I'm assuming metal mags will allow for a slightly longer OAL than the plastic ones?
 
I just got some Magpul AICS mags for mine. Havent been able to hit the range yet but they fit perfectly and Loading them is a breeze.

The Accurate mags were giving me some feeding problems.

the AI mags are a PITA to load.

Ruger metal mags are Accurate mags with a ruger logo on the baseplate.

I personally wouldn't buy MDT magazines, mostly cause they are not true 10 rounders. Also they do not feed very well in cadex chassis. Always nose diving.

I had very little issues with my accurate mag and ruger accurate mags. I just had to adjust the feed lips a bit and they were golden. One of my accurate mags was able to hold 11 or 12 rounds on the stock tube.

One downside with the polymer mags (any brand) is that it takes more polymer to match the strength of metal - as a result, there is less room in the mag for longer rounds. The Accurate Mags without the front metal blinder plate are what you're looking for if you think you are going to exceed normal COAL limits. The difference in COAL is:

Accurate Mags:
With Blinder Plate: 2.875"
Without Blinder Plate: 2.950"

You may need to notch your action to allow feeding from these mags.
 
In my upcoming CM, I will testing MDT poly, Accurate mags, and Cadex mags.

You did know that Cadex offers steel AICS mags? Give me a shout if you want to try them.

I have found Accurate mags to be overly big so fitting in my CDI DBM has been problematic... something to keep an eye on

The mag bulge on the MDT mags has a simple solution and mod to your mag well to make them work. They feed well in my rifles.

Tweaking mag lips on steel mags is a given... the act of shipping can bend them. Simple to do, and a good idea to learn how cause sooner or later, those lips will get bent.

Accurate Mags for me. I get mine from ATRS. Get the ones without binder plates. They allow for 2.950 OAL. The 10 rounders only fit 9. You will have to trim down the plastic piece at the bottom of the mag to fit 10.
 
MDT mags. Why? I was ordering my first DBM bottom metal from Jerry and figured they were worth a shot. They only fit 8 rounds, but they feed just fine, as long as I don't put a lot of pressure on the bottom of the magazine, which interferes with the bolt, as I discovered on the Moose stage in Meaford. That was my fault during inletting. I think any magazine would have been the same.
 
While the Pmags may work in some rifles like the Cadex they did not work at all in my AI AE. They didn't lock into the magwell and did not feed even when held in place by hand


I know lots of people have had good luck with them and I normally like Magpul products but these just didn't work for me. You might want to try one in your rifle before you buy a bunch.
