I am about to buy a Widerness 1 1/2" belt. From what I have read that seems to be the minimum width recommended. To date I have gone 1 1/4" but am going with the wider dedicated belt for carry and playinging the games.

the following came from kramer website FAQ

A 1-1/4" double thickness belt will support large frame handguns quite well. It is the choice of most of our police and federal agent clients who must wear suits. Although a 1-1/2" or wider belt will provide even better lateral support of the weapon, they do have a tendency to scream out "this guy has a gun!" If you are used to wearing these wider belts and live in an area where most folks wear wider belts, by all means go with it, as it can only help, but if the wider belts will compromise the fact that you are carrying, don't hesitate to wear a 1-1/4" double belt. It WILL provide a adequate support without giving away your little secret!

Well out west here wearing a 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 belt isn't all that unusual. Wilderness doesn't make a 1 1/4" belt for reasons set out in their website. I have tried the 1 1/4" belts and find they just don't provide the support required to carry a full size 1911. Oh they can, but not as well as I like.

Check out the Liger belt... I bought 2 and a pal purchased one as well... excellent for everyday wear and stays flat when it has too..

maybe have a closer look at their website..............

ok,thanks,I am gonna pick up 1.5" width belt. BTW, for 1.5" belt, the matched Slot/Loop size of holster/pouches are supposed to be 1.5"?

p226

Yes, you will have to ensure the holsters you buy have the 1 1/2" slot cut. For competition I would suggest kydex, Blade-Tech provides excellent service from my experience. I just got one of theirs for my Tanfoglio and it allows for much faster draws than what I can do from leather.

thanks,I already bought Blade-Tech for my p226;) I want a good leather holster for my upcoming 1911s for CCW,IPSC/IDPA as well.

I have two similar to that design and have found they are not near as comfortable as a pancake style when carrying a 1911 full size. If I were you I would try that design first before I bought. The pancake style with the wider belt loops seems to support the gun better.
