Shot my very first woodchuck today, as a prairie boy they arent that common here.

But added to the list

I shot a ton of them here in Ontario in the 70's & 80's. Now it's rare to see one in an area where you can shoot. I read somewhere that there was a brain virus that decimated the population in Ontario. Some people blame coyotes & fishers for the decline, but I disagree as these predators where always present in the area where I hunted groundhogs. I did come across a breeding pair on my Uncle's farm last year. I made the mistake of telling my Uncle where they were .
