just had the CFO send me an inventory of my fireamrs and realized this one was never transfered. i remember it went to gunnut in alberta, if your still on here please PM me ASAP.

The stupid thing is a transfer was started and a ref issued, but they have no record of it. And this is not the first time I've seen that happen

sure... blame it on the registry...:p of course they won't accept fault!

you're in for a tough one. kind of surprising the guy didn't complete the transfer.

Is there a way to check what is registered to you online? I'm pretty sure everything is registered properly, but it doesn't hurt to know for sure.

Same thing happened to me once.
Sold a couple rifles to a some-what local guy. We met face to face half way between his home base and mine. I had already changed them into his name and gave him the ref. # to complete transfer prior to our meeting.
Well....9 months down the road, I get a letter in the mail from CFO saying that the rifle(s) transfer had never been completed and to contact the "other" party and get it completed or poop was gonna hit the fan.
Luckily...I looked back on my PM's and had one still in my "sent" box.
I PM'd him and a week later he replied (thank god!) and said that he was moving at the time and asked his wife to call in the transfer (she had a PAL also) but she forgot and he forgot and that's where it was left.
He called them in right away and a week later I got a letter from CFO telling me everthing was good again.
The thing is...if I didn't have an old PM from him, I wouldn't have know where to start?
I know this don't help you, but at least you know it happens to other people as well.....

The lesson here is don't give the gun from your hand
until you talk to CFC, and they tell you:
-they have been contacted by the seller,
-you can give the gun to the new owner,
-the reference number.

You can get in kk very easy.

The same thing happened to me on the first gun I ever sold, back in October. A few months later I was selling another gun and mentioned to the CFC lady that I hadn't received a letter from them confirming the transfer. So I asked if she could confirm what guns were still registered to me. She said I needed to fill out a freedom of information request or whatever they're called, to get that info. However she said she could look to see if I had any uncompleted transfer open, and as it turned out I did. Luckily a PM here to the purchaser solved the issue within a couple days.

Can the CFC tell you who you initiated the transfer to? You would have given them their name and PAL/RPAL #, seems like they *should* be able to help.

In my case, all the information they gave me regarding the uncompleted transfer was the manufacture of the rifles and there serial numbers.
There was NO mention in their letter of the other party at all. (name, address etc.)
