So the collection needs to grow and I am wanting to add an SVT 40 and a Mosin M44 but I am not sure who would be the right vendor. There are a number of sites that sell both rifles, but as this would be an online purchase, I wont be able to check the quality before I buy. So what I am looking for is recommendations. Doesn't have to be the same dealer for both rifles, it's more about getting good quality.

Any of you guys that want to share your experiences would be welcome. By the way - not a thread to bash anyone. I want to hear about the good not the bad ;)

General consensus seems to be Corwin Arms or Westrifle overall, I've bought a refurb svt bayonet from Corwin and the transaction was great. I've personally looked at Corwins m38 & m44's at a local gun show and his polish surplus mosins are super clean and minty looking. When I buy a m38 or m44 it will be from Corwin, I'd love to know if Martins svt40's are just as nice.

The equipment exchange here is also worth a look. Members ive dealt with so far are honest and reliable. You often get a better deal on price than retail too and get to "hand select" as most sellers will send you as many pictures as you want.

As said above, most retailers are running out of svt's and whats left is probably not of the best quality. A gun store guy I talked to at the last gun show said his supplies have all dried up and cant get anymore svt's.

+1: I've bought a lot of rifles from P&S and their descriptions are usually very accurate. They've often suggested specific rifles from their inventory when I've told them what I'm looking for. Good folks!

+3 for P&S Militaria. They follow NRA firearms condition standards, as should any reputable dealer or individual.

So I guess I will be needing a 3rd SVT-40 by next pay day if the stories of them drying up are true. I think part of the fun with the SVT, SKS, or Mosin is discovering what you've got while degreasing it.

Can't go wrong with Corwin-Arms. Martin is a fantastic fellow to deal with, and puts in the time, personally, inspecting his purchases overseas to make sure he's getting the pick of the litter from the arsenals, and then shepherds them to Canada to make sure they don't accidentally get "swapped" for the bottom of the barrel rifles (it's the former East Block, it happens, and more than a couple sponsor dealers have gotten stung).

I've picked up a dozen or more rifles from Westrifle in the last two or three years. They are top quality, every one of them. I've never needed to look anywhere else.

Lucky you - I bought a Mosin from Westrifle a few years back that had a heavily pitted bore and the muzzle was plugged with cosmoline. They claimed it was inspected.......... I would never buy from them again, but that is me.

I have had great luck with EE, Trade EX, SFRC or buy local if you can. I own a few and they are an awesome rifle/caliber with a lot of history behind them. Good Luck.

Please remind me of your name and location. I have thousands of positive feedback even if someone does not like a rifle ( I have had 4 returns and sold 38 000 Mosin in the past 4 years) we offer exchange or refund.
