Thats a beaut of a 28 gauge ,Mac.Have read many good reports about them.

After years of using a 20 gauge, I took out my 28 for the first time yesterday and bagged a nice ruffed grouse. I absolutely love this old Savage 220. So light, yet no recoil and the 28 is basically ideal for these birds.

I recently lucked into a full set of Remington 1100 Sporting guns in 20/28/410... The 28 arrived on Friday... We were up to the cottage for Thanksgiving weekend and this sweet little gun took a mixed bag of sharptail, pheasant and ruffies this morning... The Win AA loads of #7 1/2 swatted with authority... To be honest, I didn't notice a difference from my 20 gauge shooting. One very upsetting thing was the gun was damaged in shipping, with a 1/2" X 3/4" chip broken off the forearm where it meets the receiver, rather than forfeit the gun for a refund, I am having it fixed... Gotta roll with these punches.

I have used a CZ over under in 28 gauge for years .It is awesome to carry and I have shot plenty of pheasants without a single malfunction.I always used a 20 gauge until a friend let me borrow his on Peelie Island one year. I had to have one after that.

I have an Old Champion 28 Ga it says it is made in Montreal. The fore end is taped to the barrel, there is nails holding the stock from falling apart. Its a beater that I take on my four wheeler for bird. All kinds of ammo round here.

I talked to a stock specialist today... He says I'll have my chipped forearm back in a week, good as new... Let the grouse and woodcock and teal slaying begin!
