Who has a Blue Line Pump?

Where do you stand on the Remington 870 vs Mossberg 500/590/Maverick 88 debate? ;)

The Blue Line pump is cheaper than the Maverick 88 .... and quality wise ... I would say they are the same ....
Ahh fair fair. Two sides of the same coin! I’ve been very happy with 88s and mossbergs in general. Might try a blue line pump next time one goes on sale I think

In a world where older Lakefield Mossberg pump shotguns can be found easily @ under $400, I wonder about the race to the bottom price-wise on offshore stuff. I don't think anyone of sound mind seeing a LM and a Blue line side-by-side would see a better gun in the case of the BL, but I've been wrong before. lol Based on this thread, seems more people would pick a BL over a Mossberg 88=also perplexing to me. Is there a better shotgun for the $ than an 88?

I've owned 2 Grizzly shotguns in the past, both bead sight 12.5's. For what I bought them for/sold them for I really should have held onto one of them looking back, but an 870 they were not. Tough/heavy=yes, but lacking anything that resembled refinement. Some downright bush-league finishing on some of the internal parts but it did seem to be all steel and due to it's unruly weight, FELT tough/indestructible?

I haven't held or shot a BL pump but based on the country of origin and my experience with the Grizzlies=no reason to think they won't go "bang" for a long, long time. In fact, I'll handle the next one I see...maybe I'll have a different opinion...?

I had one. Stupidly traded in for 2 jars of CFE 223 and a bunch of miscellaneous stuff. And I'm picking up a new one at Bullseye next week.
Rock solid gun. Cycled very smoothly. Felt more like an 870 than a real 870 if you know what I mean.
The only problem is the oversized forend tube that makes installation of any 870 forend a real nightmare (doable though). This has been a known issue with all the Hawk Industries 870 clones.

Is the Blue Line 870 reciever drilled and tapped? Can it accept a Mesa Tactical side saddle?
It's basically a rebranded Hawk 981 so not drilled and tapped...bead sight only.
Most 870 parts & accessories including Mesa Tactical stuff would fit.

The only parts that might not fit are the barrel, which requires a sleeve adapter, and forend tube, which is slightly larger than 870's and will cause some challenges to put on an aftermarket forend.

I used a properly sized forstner bit to bore out a walnut forend and it slipped right on.

To the OP - I've had an H&R Pardner Pump shotgun since 2017. It's also rebranded Hawk Industries 870 clone. I think it's a fantastic shotgun. Very tough, well manufactured and extremely reliable. I'd highly recommend one. Even the original stock and forend are made of a very heavy and dense plastic material (probably best not to ask what's in it). The H&R version had a slightly different receiver design with a bump at the back (similar to a Browning semi-auto) and it was d&t. Never had an issue with it, plenty of rounds through it.

I liked it so much that I picked up a new 18.5" Blue Line, which is equally good but not d&t.

I put Magpul stocks on both for a shorter LOP, better ergonomics, and better recoil pad. Great addition.

In response to GimpyGolden above, unfortunately the forend swap is a bit more difficult. The Hawk/BL pump slide is just slightly thicker than the Remington ones, so putting another forend on requires either a lot of force (it can be done) or trimming some material from inside the new forend. I've put both Hogue and Mapgul forends on, both were a bear. Soapy water helps.

Great shoguns though!

Do the BL guns have the same issues the other Chinese clones have, like barrel index being off about 4 degrees, butt stock fitment at the rear receiver hump leaving metal proud of the stock, slide being thick making forestocks hard to fit, etc.?

Well, there are reports of forends are hard to fit. But then, I did put a Magpul forend on a new 870 Police recently and that was a tight fit as well. Had to bend the plastic a bit.

On my Blue Line pumps the barrel index is straight .... and butstock fitment is good.

I mean off by 4 degrees on a Remington receiver, or alternately a Remington bbl would index a little off on the BL receiver. This was the case with all the DA and HP9 guns.

On most Chinese guns the Chinese furniture and barrels fit well but don’t interchange as well with real Remington parts. No idea if the blue line guns are better or not?

Blue Line barrels and Remington barrels are not interchangeable ...

And I had no problems putting a Magpul stock on my Blue Line pumps.

It would seem that most of the issues you are referingt to have been resolved with the Blue Line pumps ....

No crocket barrels neither ... like on the Pardner Pumps ...

The Maverick is a lesser gun for more money. Maverick's now have a paper thin buttstock. They have a plastic trigger group, the safety is small and sloppy. They also have a pinned forend.

Blueline have a solid buttstock, metal trigger group, and are compatible with many 870 parts with the exception of the barrel. You would require an adapter. Very solid build on these.
