I bought a 24"x24" plate this past summer from the local A.J. Forsyth distributor. It came out around $180 after a 1 week wait. I hung it from a easily disassembled frame I built. .338 Lapua just wipes the paint off :)

eBay is your friend. I got an 8" gong with heavy chains mailed to me for about $70. You won't find it at your local metal shop, and it won't be cheap!

I've plowed mine with hundreds of .223, .308, 30-06, etc, and you can't even tell. It's indestructible or close to it from my perspective.

Contact biggerair on this site, great guy and make different sizes. I got this 1/2" AR500 plate from him in 12" diameter.

QT400 will work as well. I have some 3/8" QT400 gongs and it works really well. Cheaper and easier to get than AR500. Your not gonna bee close when you shoot it so it will last. Shot mine at about 75 yards and not a dent. Just took the paint off.

i have a dozen high-def plasma cut 8" round target discs with a 0.5" square hole at the top for bolting or hanging. AR500 Plate. @ $65 each. i beleive they are 1/4" or 3/8" and can confirm. PM for deets.

They'll hold up forever unless you start shooting M855's at them...

M855's will cause craters in the plates... It's freaking annoying, which is why ranges that have their own AR500 plates they allow you to use get pissed when you shoot M855 at them.

Otherwise, they'll probably last forever.

Yeah, I've mussed up a few of my own steel targets with M855. The steel penetrator leaves a nice little hole in the mild steels.

I have some grader blade. It works well. I filled and hardfaced the bolt holes, then cut out 6" and 8" circles. Fire away if you've got some. The price is right too

I'll second the grader blade. I grabbed some from the old man last summer, and we've yet to even dint it.

And, like tnegrin said, the price was right!

There is an ebay seller ( qualitytargets ) claiming to AR500 steel gong targets in sizes from 4" to 12"

Feedback looks good too

" Took FMJ 8mm and 7.62 at 200 yards without a dent "

Im gonna pick one up and take it to the range and test it at 100 yards with my sks, mosin and M14 ad report back

How do you tell if it is ar500. Hit it with a grinder and look for something special with the sparks? I might have some, but don't know how to tell for sure.

If I recall, that's the guy I got mine from. Quick shipping and no issues... You'll wonder why you didn't buy some sooner! :)

Quality Targets is great to deal with Calvin will take care of you for sure. I have hit my 3/8 thick IDPA target with .223 9mm .45ACP .40 no problems. I have a .625" thick target I have hit with .338LM 250 grain Barnes tungsten core from 100m and no dent or crater just the paint smudged off. Both targets are AR 500 very happy with his service and prices.

if you're living in farm country, used disc blades work pretty well & they are cheap or free. about 24" in dia, tough steel with a hole in the centre for mounting, slightly convex to reduce stuff coming back at ya. I have one hanging out at 200m that has been hammered with hundreds of rounds of full metal jacket, soft points & bpcr bullets. we just keep repainting it and it's good to go no cracks or craters yet.
