Who has the best price on Savage Axis rifles right now?

The Stevens may not start out as much but they have great genetics.

Bed them, tune the trigger if not replace them, and I have yet to see one that didn't shoot sub MOA with handloads. Most were 1/2 to 2/3 min. The one in the rainbow stock shot 3/8" at 100yds as the orig factory 223.

The 9 twist that comes with these rifles helps with the much nicer heavier bullets that work great on larger pooches.

Think the Stevens too basic, go with a Savage 11FCNS and it might just do all that you want.

Anyways, whatever makes you happy. I am sure the Ruger will come out in more cals but they are so far behind with what they are producing, nothing till 2013. See what SHOT indicates.

I got a Stevens 200 in .308 a few months ago. Put on a new scope and dropped in a Timney trigger and it will shoot 1/2 MOA 3 shot groups (Hornady 168gr A-Max match ammo).

FYI If you want to buy a Stevens don't phone the store to see what they have in stock. Order one on line and get free shipping to the store. You can pick it up in 5 or so days. I believe their inventory is adjusted in real time. Just bought a Rem SPS 7MM mag(ther last caliber they showed stock in) for $450 with case. The minute I placed the order that rifle disapeared from the sale. It would appear I got the last one.
