Who has the best prices for Leupold Scopes?

Just doing some price shopping and wonder if any of you can help me out. Thanks
You better go to the States for good prices on Leupold. Because you won't find any here. But they are great scopes.

Right here on EE. Just bought a nice VXII 2-7X33.:D
Far cheeper across the border, and worth the wait.

I just bought a used Leupold VXIII 2.5x8 Matte w/BC reticle in the States for not much more than a 2x7 VXII was just listed in the EE, and another new VXIII 1.5x5 Matte for $250US/shipped.

.

Have they changed their policy? Last I've heard scopes were on "the list" of gun things that couldn't cross the border.

I have been talking with Tod Kindler of Woodchuck Den, and he was stating that he cannot ship scopes out of USA. Good price though, $625. 00 for Leupold 6.5x20x40. Wish I had some relations down there.

I'm my case both scopes were purchased privately and were claimed as "optics".

I've ordered a scope across the border. You just gotta find a retailer who doesn't know the law or is willing to break it for a sale.

Hungry here: Discussion of illegal activities (even illegal against the USA Laws) is a no-no on this board. You have been warned of the CGNutz policy. I would advise that if you continue to flaunt the US Laws then please take it outside this board (read between the lines !!).

What about doing a little "cross border" shopping? What are the rules for bringing a scope purchased in U.S. back into Canada?

Might want to think a little before posting what you did, some around here might take it the wrong way ;)

Lots of people will ship to Canada from the US. You just have to ask before you bid and make sure they just put "optics" on the form when asked what it is

You would still have to fill out the export permits. Read below...

Importing & Exporting into Canada

The rules have changed for exporting firearms parts into Canada. We must now get export authorization for shipping both barrels and scopes to Canada. With barrels we are required to get an export license from the U.S. State Department. In the past Canada was exempt from this requirement but we now must get the license as we do with all other foreign countries. With scopes we are also required to get export authorization but it is through the Department of Commerce.

Before we are able to apply for an export license the end user (the purchaser) must get import authorization from the Canadian government. Individual purchasers may get this authorization on their own or to avoid the paperwork you may place an order through one of the importers listed below. Here are the steps to get that paperwork:

The document is an International Import Certificate issued by;

Export Controls Division (EPE), Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade
Export & Import Controls Bureau
P.O. Box 481, Station "A"
Ottawa ON K1N 9K6

STEPS:

1. Obtain the paperwork from above agency
2. Complete and return paperwork
3. DFAIT will issue import paperwork
4. Importer submits paperwork (originals or certified copies) to U.S. exporter

That is illegal. The proper export permits must be filled out. Some people get away with it and thats fine, but it still has to be done to export legaly.

Read below...

I see the mods have warned you, thats what I was saying above ;)

a breech in the law : scopes manufactures outside US are still legal shipped from the US distributor. ... I know... Leupy lovers think they're made in US, but what % of "made" is actually made there? I suppose the laser engraving is all done in US. Read the recent Leupold statement.... they're open admitting what everyone else was suspecting for long time now... they manufacture A LOT of the components in Asia.
This by no means implies that one should drive 20 minutes across the border and get one. One must assume that good ppl don't like Leupold scopes to begin with..... JK :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

Does this not answer your question?

I am sure there are more than just barrels and scopes, this is just off of a dealers webpage.

Guys - lets be crystal clear. And yes - you can go mad hunting down all the regs on this but our boys have done it so we know this to be accurate -

scopes can ONLY be brought into the country from the US with an export permit. Dealers who sell them here have already done that paperwork to bring them up here.

This is an american law, not a canadian law. Canada doesn't give a flying fig.

However - AND DISCUSSION OR SUGGESTIONS of illegal activity, INCLUDING violating US laws, is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN here and is in fact a quick way to earn a ban for yourself.

I don't care if they don't enforce it, i don't care if canada customs has no problem with it - it IS in fact against US law.

If you want to buy a scope from the states, you must go thru the proper paperwork to bring it in to canada as far as THIS forum is concerned. Or, have an appropriate dealer do it for you.
