I'm looking for an SKS package deal (gun + 1200 round crate of NON-Corrosive ammo). Canada Ammo has a $399.99 package, but their site says that the SKS may be laminate or hardwood, and that it may be chrome lined or may not be which I'm not sure if that is a big deal or not...

Does nyone know of a better or similar deal that you can be a little more confident in the quality of the SKS?

Also interested in an SKS as a first rifle (outside of my .22). I will be watching this thread for updates.

Searched through the banners/sponsors on the site but I wasn't sure which to order from (mainly due to similar reasons stated by OP) or if to go to a physical store (GTA BANTARIO). No hijack intended. XD

This might be the best deal you can get. but it is corrosive .

I am told we are at the bottom of the barrel for the sks quality.. the high end stuff was selling a year+ ago… this cannot be confirmed by myself though.

Corrosive ammo is no big deal; just clean with boiling hot water and a tiny bit of soap, rinse with boiling water before oiling it back up. If you're that worried about it you'll be best buying a premium SKS off Westrifle or Weimajack to get exactly what you want.

Non chromed is no big deal either... You need to properly clean after corrosive ammo either way. Some people claim the chromed bores are less accurate... Again, if you really want the chrome bore Westrifle or Weimajack will sell you hand picked rifles.

Corrosive is all I shoot through SKS', but what people are now saying is that they don't always have time to strip and clean the rifle immediately after getting home.

Understandable, but I always work corrosive cleaning time into the equation when scheduling a day or afternoon of shooting.
If I can't make time for the cleaning, then I bring rifles that dont shoot corrosive and shotguns instead. Gotta have options in the arsenal. Trigger time, is trigger time.

First rifle i purchased for myself was an SKS. Wholesale sports is where I got it. Far more impressed with the accuracy than i thought i was going to be.
I've thrown probably close to 2500 rounds through it (all corrosive) and the bore still looks like new.

We have good Sks with pictures of the rifle you buying at westrifle.com you can go to website and check it out right now.

This rifle is going to be my 'modify it to death' SKS. Next one I buy is going to stay stock and will be coming from Westrifle so that I know exactly what I will be getting.
