ok so ive been lookin around at the diffrent dealers that sell the SKS and so I have to ask?? witch ones are better?? the SIR ones? Marstar? P&D? I know the levers apparently suck so I won't even go there but any other sugestions??

Im talking about the $150ish china ones.

Thanks
Kyle.

I bought lever's

It was not that great group about 5 inches at 100 yards. I bought one on the exchange board for less and it groups 3 inches at 100 yards. I think you are much better off going through the exchange board and finding one as you can ask the seller how does it shoot.

all the ones on the EE are too much money IMO.

you can't buy something and sell it for the same price or in most cases more then I could to the store and buy one for. Just My Opionion though.

I see Norinco SKS for sale all the time for $200 and I just shake my head cause the same thing is available from an actual dealer with an actual store for $50 less.

Some of those Norinco's in the EE seem overpriced, but you have to factor in the cost of shipping that SIR or someone like that is going to put on top of the rifle which they sell for $150 or whatever they cost (I don't actually know). That being said, if you're buying from a reputable dealer on the EE you're guarenteed a good shooter, whereas some people have been having a lot of trouble with the random Norinco's SIR or Milarm ship them.

I'm not saying that $200 isn't too much for a Norinco, but you paying another $20 or whatever is worth it for the peace of mind in my opinion.

got mine from milarm bout a year ago, threaded barrel, all matching numbers, decently accurate. not a mish mash of parts with a pinned barrel like ive heard the ones from leverarms to be

Did you try it well benched and sandbagged first?

Lever Arms SKS?

What's the matter with Lever's SKS's?
They are the Chinese ones, right? Wouldn't they be the same as other Chinese make SKS?
Please elaborate, because I've been planning to go in and buy one from them. I've haven't bought anything there in a long time, but I've been in and looked around recently and they 'seem' like a good bunch of guys to deal with.

I got one from P&D,its was put together from the parts bin,the first 200rds though it it work like a straight pull bolt action, lots of FTEs FTFs. striped it down for a better look(should have done it first thing I know. but the thing was dripping with cosmline.)the gas piston was vary rough with some kind of coating on it.smoothed that down with some steel wool and emery cloth, worked great after that.

for the price it was no big deal,But ,maybe have a closer look before you take it home.
tough ,fun, little rifles.

As for the part about shipping. When someone charges $200 because that's what they paid with taxes and shipping. How is it fair you then have to pay them extra for shipping to get it to your place. Most people over charge on SKS's here.

I'm not sure how you compare.. Your question really doesn't make sense.. it's like asking who has the best springfield operator TSE or wolverine or epps or P&D or Millarm... A chinese SKS is a chinese SKS... I could understand if you were asking if the yugo was better then the chinese or the russian....

But as for who has the best price.. you can do the comparison.. I bought 5 from Milarm when they had the 5 Pack for 399... Still covered in grease but I got one in the bunch that was a real shooter... It had a 4 digit serial number etched on all the parts, reciever, bolt, trigger stock (and a bunch of other places as well can't remember all of them) with WWB ammo it would group about an inch at 100 yds... That one I kept... I've bought and sold a few others and none of the others can shoot better then about 3 inches... Jayne's SKS has been tuned a bit and she can shoot the end of 4X4 at 60 yards (the length of my outdoor range!) all day long...

Good point cocker,
I meant that the price is justidfied by the peace of mind you get from buying a gun you know is functional.

I'd pay the extra $50 for a slightly used one just so I don't have to clean and degrease a new one. I can take you all day. IMO, it's worth the $50.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the lever sks's anymore. It was over a year ago (maybe 2 years?) when there was problems. Once the problem was discovered lever fixed their inventory before selling more. The people who bought before they were fixed had the option to take it back and get it fixed by lever. There are a few threads about this, but like I said it was quite a while ago. The sks's at lever now are a totally different batch I think. I have a sks from lever, no problems at all.
I was in lever a couple days ago, the nice thing about going in is that you can pick out the best sks. Apparently they have a bunch in stock, but they only display a few at a time. I saw 3 on display. Two had mismatched wood. One had really nice wood with a decent finish. Quite a nice sks actually; I was tempted to buy it. If you're in the vancouver area my advice would be to go in and pick out the best one.

leverarms

dh, i must have been there just before you bcos there was 5 on the rack, i bot the only one with matching number ($149), the wood wasnt pretty , thats ok, cos i plan to replace it with a ATI monte carlo stock ( any comment about ATI would be greatly appreciated) , BTW , they sold another a minute late, very nice wood but not matching. i havent fire it yet still removing grease. the guys at leverarms are very helpful and friendly.
