Who here is into Waterfowl Hunting?

I'm just getting into waterfowl hunting. Anyone have any recommendations? Don't want to break the bank but prefer a semi-auto.

I would love to do some waterfowl hunting but being relatively new to the area, don't know where to start. I have a Mossberg 535 and some ammo bit that's about it

First time out last month !

Just look up areas in your region. You'll need a migratory bird permit and any other area permits that may apply to you.

Always go with a shotgun that fits you. I always recommend the Winchester SX3. It's is a beast, handles nicely, it's lightweight, has little recoil, and is dead reliable. I've dropped 150 or so birds with mine and it's given me 0 issues. Haven't been out for ducks since I moved to BC (from Manitoba, I had a fantastic hunting spot on Lake Winnipeg 1.5 miles from my house) a year and a half ago but I'll find a place for next year as waterfowl hunting is still my favorite.

Been using a Browning A500 since the late 80's. Have a Rem 870 express for when the slogging gets gross and i don't want to risk ruining the finish on the Browning.

Remington 870 express 12ga black synthetic...been duck/goose hunting with it since the early 1990s. Simple to clean and maintain in the field and home. In early days used as much tungsten matrix as possible but can not be had much these days. Also used hevishot and challenger tungsten when could be had...they were all awesome. Many doubles and a few triples taken with them ... nowadays mostly hevi-metal, kent fasteel, some challenger steel.

My recommendation if you want a semi-auto..... Shop around and find a good used benelli or beretta. If you can live without the 3.5" chamber I would also consider a Franchi. The comfort and reliability are second to none and while the new price may not justify it, I am confident there are reasonable used deals to be had. I got my Benelli SBE about 5 years ago for $800 used, and after having an SBE would not consider anything else.
