Who hunt yotes with iron sights ?

Im only asking because in SWO they are usually under 300... With 20/20 vision it is not an issue for me seeing that far.

It would be cool to have a 6.5x55 rifle with irons for deer/yotes. (limited to under .270 in SWO)

I like ghost sights but I find most rifles only come in 308 (no go) or 223 (not something I feel comfortable using for deer)...
 
I used to use the same rig that I used for deer. 20 ga with sabots and irons.
Expensive and not pelt friendly. When I started going out more, I switched to a .270.
 
As long as you can hit a 4" target at your intended max range consistently I don't see a problem with that. All the ones I have shot or saw shot with irons were up close and personal. If you had a buddy with a scoped rifle with you, you would be pretty safe all around, I've seen more coyotes missed at close range than long due to too much magnification. Everybody's peering off into the horizon and a coyote blasts in front of us at 30 yards lol, it's embarrassing. I prefer my 1-4 razor for yotes these days.

all my yote partners use 3x9 or 4x12 so yah.

I liek the idea of 1-4 but on a bolt gun seems funny lmao. Id rather get it on a semi of some sort but that skyrockets the price of a new rifle. lol
 
I wouldn't mind giving iron sights a go. It's just a coyote. You're not missing out on steaks if it gets away lol

I have shot a ton of coyotes with slugguns over the years and never found Sabots to be hard on fur at all. Way less damage then my 270 for sure.
 
I've been looking for a 25/20 or 6.5x52 sporter for exactly what you want to do. Not to 300 but out to 75 yards
I use a 25/06 with 6-24 scope. Never felt undergunned and never missed a close shot yet. It is not fur friendly most of the time

I wish I could use my Jrc down here. Other than the loud safety click its perfect for calling coyotes in our wooded patches
