It will likely see action in moose camp if im pushing a tight swamp and want open sights. Its gun #4 in deer season, so it probably wont get used then.
When my father-in-law mustered out at the end of WWII he was issued a 303 along with his mates. Rangers?? These 303's were the staple moose gun for all these vets for years. It is now my son's.
Most people out grow and move on to newer calibers and prettier rifles.
Some believe they are still in the trenches and continue to use them... they are brave for staying away from the EE and saving themselves many thousands of dollars by simply not upgrading. What are they missing?... prolly not much.
I started with a no1 mk3 , 35 years ago my 2 teens learned to hunt and both have shot game with it, and one of thier friends take it hunting every fall now ...
RM3200: Those look like some nice old .303's! I bought a Churchill back in 1965 for about $65 (big money for a 17 yr old), and used it for quite a few years. I'll have to crank the old girl up again, just for old time's sake.
I used to use my grandfathers no. 1 mk III before i could afford my own rifles. I've wanted a No. 5 for the last little while though. Hmmmm...Might have to get my hands on one sometime soon.
I've been using a No.4Mk2 with full wood most of the time, but occasionally a No.5. This year I acquired a Parker Hale Supreme (No.4Mk1) and I'll be using it.
I bought a No. 5 Jungle Carbine for deer hunting this year. 6 inches shorter and 1 lb lighter than my usual rifle, really nice to hike in the bush with. Beautiful rifle and neat history.
