DPMS A1 assembled upper. Model UR-A1.

Looks to be the obvious choice for C7 and C8 first gen builds...?

Questar seems to import DPMS, but have not listed this model. I think *maybe* TSE brings in DPMS?

you could always ask Questar to bring it in for you...when I wanted my Spikes billet set it wasn't listed either but they did bring it in.

Well that was short and sweet. Questar says they cannot bring it in as they are not a DPMS distributor. Presumably the DPMS offerings on their site are from Brownells or similar.

Anyone know who IS a DPMS vendor in Canada???

OK, well Wolverine thinks the *might* be able to get either this one of the Bushmaster equivalent for me... now we play the waiting game while they check with their importer...

Paperwork isn't that bad... one hour's worth at the most.

- Canadian import permit
- filled DSP83 form
- End User Statement
- Written PO to Brownells

Depending on how busy the US state dept. is (and if the planets are lined up) 2-3 weeks later the parcel shows up in your mailbox...

I would stay away from the DPMS and get the Bushmaster. I seem to recall that these uppers had issues with certain cocking handles not working in them.

Interesting. The DPMS and Bushmaster versions of this upper both have the same part number and the same forging code (a capital "A" for Anchor Harvey Forge). I suspect one company is subbing mfgr to the other. The Bushy version retails for less ($160 vs. 199), so I'm guessing Bushy supplies DPMS with theirs.

The upper also comes with a charging handle, so it at least will fit.

The cheapest I could find a DPMS A1 upper for in the US was around $103.

I'd gladly give the paperwork a go but I'm not certain 'mom and pop' operators would want to jump through whatever hoops are required to export, especially if they don't have some of the more expensive steps taken care of.

The option to just get it shipped to the border and go get it myself is tempting...except for the fine, jail and loss of future border crossing ability.:(

Perhaps they've amalgameted production. They're all owned by Freedom Group and they seem to be consolidating manufacturing facilities (ie, moved Marlin down to Remington).

Forge codes have nothing to do with who manufactures (machines) the upper, only which forge it comes from. Colt could use the same forgings as Olympic, it has nothing to do with the finished product.

I get that, but is shows a common supplier. This coupled with identical part numbers and configurations on an uncommon upper looks more than coincidental to me.
