I obtained a BR stock for an Anschutz 54 single shot from overseas. It was supposed to be a drop in fit, but isn't and needs some final inletting. I would also like the stock to be glass and pillar bedded. I might have attempted the job myself, but my father passed recently and his woodworking skills and shop are not available. I would like it done right the first time, without issue.

Who has experience doing glass and pillar bedding on Anschutz match 54 single shot stocks?

Below is the stock in English Yew.

Glenn,
The folks at Alberta tactical rifle do very nice bedding job. Give them a call and talk to Shawn and explain to him exactly what you have and what you want. You will be well served with a high quality job for a very reasonable price.

Hello Glenn,

It's a Parmoor, right ? Overall, how would you rate this stock ? Quality, finish ?

As far as the bedding job is concerned, I would not hesitate to get in touch with Gerard Gaulin in Quebec.

I want to thank everyone for the recommendations of who does good work with stock bedding. I will try to contact them and ask a few questions.

Hello Glenn,

It's a Parmoor, right ? Overall, how would you rate this stock ? Quality, finish ?

Paul, it is indeed a Parmoor stock. It's hard to evaluate the stock when the barreled action won't quite fit in place. It's not a drop in and go like the Anschutz factory BR stocks. As for finish, the stock maker said it was a matte lacquer. The finish still requires more coats of lacquer. My guess is that it currently has only one. It's my understanding that the stock maker is getting out of the business and retiring. It might help explain his failure to reply to messsages. My question about finishing was one of the few he answered. He certainly doesn't get high marks for communication.

Thanks for the recommendation of Gerard Gaulin as someone who can do the job. Have you any contact information that you could pass along to me?

An update. Only twenty eight days after putting the stock and barreled action in the post, today the pillar and glasss bedded stock was returned. Henry Rempel did an excellent job.

I have only to touch up the lacquer finish, mount a Sightron 45X Competition scope, and try it out. (The lacquer may have to wait a little while.)

Hi Glenn, good to see the pics and you are pleased with the bedding and pillar installation

I’m waiting for my stock to be completed as well , I’ll post pics when it comes in

Bohdan, you should be quite pleased with the work. And you've got quite a unique looking stock that will be all the more impressive.

Here's as it looked at the range earlier today. The barreled action is from what originally came to me as a 1973-made 1411. Although it's 50 years old, it is every bit as accurate as my 1913 that's more than 40 years newer.

Not only is the stock new, but so is the scope, a Sightron SIII 45X Competition. I also have a new-to-me front rest as well as a new mechanical rear rest. I haven't used them enough yet to know them well.

Glenn, Is that a John Loh rest? I have a copy of one made by a local machinist.
