I've got a stock that's just come in, and it's stamped CE 1967. Same as the front-guard.

I've poked around a bit, and I'm not entirely sure who might have made these. Ishapore India, or POF Pakistan are my only guesses at this point. If someone knows, and could tell me, I'd appreciate it.

Ishapore made the SMLE up to the late 60's to early 70's. POF made No.4 MKII up to 1963 and maybe a bit later.

That is a for end number for savage. They made no 4 Enfield wood for there own production and replacement on rebuilds.
It is later than the S marked wood savage did in ww2. Most of this wood was birch like the m1 garand birch. Numrich sold
it about four years ago. All of it was new with some water stain. Long Branch used this wood.

Ishapore is still tooled for the Number 1 Rifle, the old SMLE. They make every part except for Bodies, also sell Commercial rifles in .315", which is the old Austrian 8x50R Mannlicher round. The Indian military still has -- and uses -- large numbers of SMLEs as training and guard rifles.

Pakistan still has its Number 4 tooling and manufactures parts but not complete rifles.

Problem is that neither will sell to individuals!

Bummer complete!
